"This vintage has confirmed once again that a great harvest is produced when perfect conditions are created before the harvest, and this was the case in 2017. The result is a wine with great personality, generous on the nose, enveloping and sensual, which surprises on the palate with its freshness and the surprising balance that makes it so pleasant. Fire and ice, sweetness and juiciness, balsamic and fruit, a mix of ingredients that make this vintage very pleasant, but also give it the seriousness of a great Brunello di Montalcino." Francesco Ripaccioli
The 2017 Brunello best represents the constant contrast between the warm and cool parts of the vintage: the freshness in the mouth contrasts with the opulence and sweet fullness on the nose. Elegant and silky tannins give the wine depth and vibrancy. The acidity, which is perfectly integrated into a balanced alcohol content, gives the vintage the prospect of good bottle ageing. "Warm-scented nose of cherries and violets; juicy attack, the tannins and acidity in perfect symbiosis, lots of juice and flavour right through to the final. An all-rounder." Vinum
"Elegant, restrained bouquet with ripe red and blue berries, followed by earthy and spicy notes: lovage, graphite and truffly sous-bois notes, plus floral and, with air, ethereal hints, very complex and iridescent. Elegant and densely woven on the palate, with fine ethereal notes and a good, grippy freshness. As so often: a strong, classic basic Brunello!" Weinwisser
"Somewhat smoky, slightly animal, tobacco and dried meaty aroma of ripe black and red berries, a little dried soup herbs, iodine and tar. Ripe, juicy, quite polished fruit, herbal, nutty and slightly tobacco flavours, youthful, ripe tannins, some bite, persistent and quite dense on the palate, a little chocolate and roasted nuances, pepper and juniper, a lot of power and density, but also cooling elements, some salt, hints of tar, very good, firm, juicy and spicy finish with emphasis." Wein-Plus
"Bright, intense garnet red colour. Intense nose with pronounced notes of ripe plums, rose petals and fine leather. Extremely juicy fruit on the palate, dark cherries and plums, grippy, savoury tannins." Falstaff
"The estate Brunello, which is a blend of vineyards in the Montosoli and Canalicchio zones, starts with smoky, flinty notes then gives way to intense herb blossoms. The palate is where it really struts its stuff at the moment, particularly the texture. It grips confidently in all the right places. Packed with flavours of small forest berries and dusty gravel, it finishes with a refreshing salty kick." Decanter
"This shows beautiful balance and drinkability, with firm and slightly chewy tannins, yet the fruit is pure and flavorful. Some bark and crushed-stone undertones. Very drinkable now." James Suckling
"This estate is meticulous and studied in its winemaking philosophy, and the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is an expression of that concentration. This warm-climate Brunello reveals awesome purity and intensity with wild cherry, almond and lilac spread over a tonic, mid-weight finish. This wine awards plenty of elegance in a vintage that was not easy and not prone to such nuance." Wine Advocate
"This red bursts with sweet, ripe cherry and plum fruit, with tobacco, leather and mineral elements adding depth as it builds to a lingering conclusion. Shows fine balance, a vibrant structure and excellent length. Spicy aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is wildly perfumed, dusty and exotic, with balsam herbs, savory spices, red currants and plums coming across as so pretty yet rich and potent. A silky display of sour wild berries contrasted by candied citrus wows the senses as the 2017 plays a zesty sweet-and-sour act upon the palate. It’s long, youthfully chewy, yet still remarkably fresh, with rosy florals and tart, tart cherries giving way to chiseled tannins through the finale. This is a beautiful rendition of the 2017 vintage, one that takes the dry warmth of the year and expresses it with tremendous energy and verve." Vinous
"Aromas of underbrush, blue flowers and ripe black-skinned fruit mingle with new leather. The concentrated, full-bodied palate doles out ripe plum, fleshy black cherry, star anise and tobacco set against velvety, enveloping tannins. A great performance for the scorching vintage, you won't have to wait long before enjoying this, but it will also offer years of fine drinking." Wine Enthusiast
"Another success in the path of the Ripaccioli family in search of the best possible quality. Nose of pomegranate, with notes of fresh thyme and touches of carnation. The mouthfeel is taut, with excellent density, salty tannins and a nice persistence." Luca Gardini
