Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico on the gentle hills between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers and comprises 319 hectares of land, of which around 130 are planted with vines. The estate's vineyards include two jewels: Tignanello and Solaia, which are located on the same hill, on calcareous and schistose marl soils of marine origin from the Pliocene, and which benefit from warm days and fresh nights during the growing season. Two wines are produced from these vineyards, which many years ago had the potential to become the starting point of the Italian wine renaissance. Nothing has changed to this day.

The 2022 vintage shows its restrained style in an excellent way. Tignanello is almost never overly fruity and this vintage shines with aromas of cloves and black pepper with blueberry yoghurt. It is full, firm and velvety, with great weight and extraction in the centre of the palate and shows a long acidity that carries the exotic finish with spices and cocoa. "Tignanello in 2022 is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Pot-pourri-infused red and black berry aromas introduce a succulent palate of good intensity. It's well balanced and bright, with cashmere tannins supporting a core of sapid hedgerow berries outlined by crushed rock minerality and bitter herbs. The finish is slightly disjointed, displaying a touch of alcohol warmth and wood which is yet to fully integrate, but given time it should come good." Decanter

As with most wineries, Tignanello experienced spurts of rain at the end of the season, but the steep, well-draining slopes were a distinct advantage.
