Ornato, Serralunga d'Alba, that is: stony limestone marl, warm vats with good aeration, the south/south-west exposure ensures deep ripeness, the altitude ensures balance. Hand-picked, separate vinification in stainless steel, extended maceration time. Maturation in large barrels is supplemented by a small proportion of barriques/tonneaux – more for texture than flavour. 2020 offered a stable summer and clear nights for the harvest: ripe harvest, supple phenolics, brilliant fruit.

Clear, dense garnet colour. Amarena, ripe plum, blackberry, sandalwood, juniper, liquorice and a hint of cocoa on the nose. Full-bodied, yet balanced on the palate: rich, finely polished tannins, a juicy mid-palate and a fresh, vibrant acidity that lends vigour to the fullness. The wood remains very fine and outlines the contours. Very long, spicy, mineral finish with notes of laurel and balsam. An Ornato of great sensuality and tranquillity, with excellent ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
