Mosconi 2021 comes from one of the most renowned crus of Monforte d'Alba – a site known for its brooding, clay-limestone soils and south-westerly exposure. The terroir here gives the Nebbiolo particular depth, warmth and structural density. The 2021 vintage was almost ideal in the Langhe: a cool, slow start to the growing season, followed by a stable summer without heat stress and a dry, sunny autumn created perfect conditions for the grapes to ripen slowly with high aromatic complexity and finely polished tannins.

The vinification follows the classic house style: a long maceration period, spontaneous fermentation, followed by around 30 months of ageing in French barriques and tonneaux, with a sensitive dosage of wood that frames rather than conceals the origin. In the glass, the Mosconi 2021 is a dense but brilliant garnet red colour. The nose is opulent yet precise: dark wild berries, plums, violets, liquorice and warm earth, accompanied by fine roasted aromas and balsamic nuances. Powerful and brooding on the palate, with a rich texture, grippy tannins and impressive density. The fruit always remains fresh, supported by cool minerality and a hint of salty length.

A Barolo of impressive tension – powerful but not loud, structured but never heavy. Mosconi 2021 is an expression of great Monforte typicity and is already accessible at this early stage, but has all the prerequisites for long ageing at the highest level. SUPERIORE.DE
