Vigna Andrea is the centrepiece of Clelia Romano's oeuvre – a single-vineyard Taurasi, grown at an altitude of 500 metres on calcareous and clayey soils near Lapio. Not a Taurasi monument, but a wine of deep tension, dignity and ageing potential – a solitaire that rewards patience and interprets Aglianico in its noblest form. A great southern Italian, far from any exaggeration, but full of inwardness and substance.

Deep dark ruby colour with a purple rim in the glass. The aroma is complex and of cool noblesse: Black cherry, violets, eucalyptus, graphite and a fine spice of cedar wood and tobacco leaves. Dense and powerful on the palate, with pithy tannins, elegant and fresh at the same time. The ageing is noticeable but perfectly integrated. Long finish: balsamic notes, herbs, smoke and an impressive mineral signature that impressively emphasises the volcanic terroir. SUPERIORE.DE
