    Lugana as a sparkling wine? The idea sounds unusual, but Sergio Zenato had been pursuing it ever since the winery was founded in the 1960s. He recognised early on that Trebbiano di Lugana, with its delicate acidity and aromatic purity, offers ideal conditions for traditional bottle fermentation. Hand-harvested in mid-September, gently pressed as whole bunches, fermented with natural yeasts at 16°C in stainless steel. Then comes the crucial step: the second fermentation in the bottle according to the Metodo Classico – the same process used in Champagne. The spumante matures sur lie for a full 24 months before remuage and dégorgement release its delicate aromas.

    An intense straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. A creamy mousse and an elegant, persistent effervescence. On the nose, it is powdery and enveloping: brioche, white fruits, citrus and a hint of white flowers. On the palate, it is lively yet silky, with precise acidity that lends tension and freshness.
