The Piero selection was created as a tribute to the work of Pierluigi Talenti, who has passionately selected and cultivated Sangiovese over the years. A 1.95 hectare vineyard near the centre of the winery, with unique pedoclimatic characteristics, stands out from all other vineyards for its consistent quality. The gently sloping terrain is surrounded by woods rich in marl, with a south-easterly exposure at an altitude of 410 metres above sea level, where Pierluigi pursued and cultivated his personal clonal selection in the 1970s.
Refined, dark and seductive approach, where a hint of crushed stone gives way to a mass of blackberries and cherries. These continue to unfold with notes of sage, cedar, mocha and leather. The wine has an exotic flair without ever straying from the purity of the Sangiovese grape. The textures are of pure elegance like silk draped over the senses, yet is perfectly balanced by zesty acids and a hint of sour citrus, while the depths of red and black fruits give way to inner floral and earthy tones. The tannins are barely noticeable until the finish, where the structure asserts itself and envelops the palate with youthful composure, while a hint of balsamic spice lingers. SUPERIORE.DE

On the nose, it has a little more new wood than the Annata, then ethereal, smoky notes with blueberry contours, tobacco and herbal-spicy notes emerge. Super elegant and full of finesse. Very sweet, gelled cherries and wild berries, backed by lots of Mediterranean herbal spice with rosemary, super precisely woven, incredibly juicy style, not exuberant, somewhat more expansive and melting than the simple one. Deep and finesse-rich on the palate with sweet and juicy tannins, very finely woven with fine-meshed tannins, because the ethereal notes are simply wonderfully juicy and keep the wine very long and spicy-fresh until the long final.
