    When Giorgio Rivetti saw the hills of Neive, he immediately recognised the potential lying dormant in this Barbaresco commune: soils and exposures in which he saw the characteristics of the most prestigious crus combined. He bought the land. The Rivettis have since established a presence in Neive with four vineyards, each with its own character, each with its own voice in the estate's Barbaresco orchestra. Bordini is the most delicate of these voices.

    Whilst the other Spinetta crus shine with structure and power, Bordini responds with finesse and allure. The estate itself chooses three words: fresh, elegant, seductive. In the language of Nebbiolo: raspberry, rose, a hint of nutmeg, fine tannins and a lightness one does not always expect from this grape variety. 14 to 15 days' maceration in temperature-controlled tanks, malolactic fermentation in used French barriques, around 20 months' ageing in these second-pass barrels, then 6 months in bottle. No new oak, no oaky aromas – the estate's "secondo passaggio" principle: the barrel as a neutral space, with Nebbiolo as the sole voice.

    Bright ruby red. On the nose: redcurrant, raspberry, rose and nutmeg. Lively on the palate, supported by fine tannins and fresh fruit; long and invigorating. Barbaresco at its most elegant. SUPERIORE.DE
