Barolo Percristina is a wine that shines like a legacy in the history of Domenico Clerico. Grown in the renowned Mosconi cru vineyard in Monforte d'Alba between 390 and 410 metres above sea level, the Nebbiolo vines here are rooted in a soil consisting of calcareous marl with fossil deposits, silt, clay and a hint of sand. The location gives the wine a vein that is both powerful and precise – a terroir that promotes depth and longevity. Named after Clerico's daughter Cristina, Percristina is not just a wine, but a very personal dedication and the flagship of the house. It is only vinified in the best years.

The 2015 vintage benefited from a balanced growing season: a warm, sunny summer followed by cool September nights, which gave the grapes complexity and aromatic freshness. The grapes were harvest selectively by hand and each grape was checked before it found its way into the cellar. There, the wine matured for 36 months in barriques to develop structure and depth, followed by a further 24 months in large barrels, where it gained harmony and elegance – a total of almost five years of patient ageing.

Dense, bright garnet red in the glass with ruby red reflections. The bouquet slowly unfolds like a finely crafted symphony: dried cherry, black plum and cassis, surrounded by rose petals, violets, liquorice and tobacco. Underneath are subtle hints of white truffle, tar, balsamic herbs and mineral depth. Full-bodied yet nuanced on the palate, carried by silky, polished tannins, a clear, lively acidity and a structure that is powerful but never overloaded.
