On 18 and 19 April 2017, the temperature dropped to minus 4.5 degrees; the frost damaged two-thirds of the estate's vineyards, whilst in August the temperature soared to 39 degrees. The yield was 4,800 kilograms of grapes per hectare – 38% – and from these came a wine bearing the name of the estate’s founder: Annamaria Clementi Zanella, mother of Maurizio Zanella. In 1989, the cuvée was dedicated to her; it is produced only in the best vintages and exclusively from the finest plots, at that time still known as the Cuvée Annamaria Clementi Riserva. Since the 2008 vintage, it has been simply called Annamaria Clementi and is bottled without dosage.

The cuvée consists of 82% Chardonnay, 3% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero, harvested from 31 plots across five municipalities, with an average age of 32 to 33 years. Only the free-run juice ferments in small oak barrels, where it remains on the lees for a further six months whilst malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine then remains on the lees for 8 years and 7 months before being disgorged without oxygen, using a patented method developed by the estate.

Golden yellow with fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose, ripe yellow apples, candied lemon zest, a hint of salted caramel and buttery yeast pastries, underpinned by a mineral freshness. Creamy yet salty on the palate, with lively acidity and great precision; the finish is dry and long. More than eight years on the lees, not a drop of dosage – there's nothing to hide here.
