In 1991, the personal and professional bond between Gianni Masciarelli and his wife Marina Cvetic gave rise to the range that still bears their name today. The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva is their best-selling wine, available in 55 countries, and has played a key role in strengthening the reputation of this grape variety worldwide – today it is regarded as one of its most recognisable and distinctive expressions. The grapes come from four distinct vineyards around San Martino sulla Marrucina, at an altitude of 400 metres: Colle di Paolo, Fonte Filippo, Schiavone and Colle Rosina, on medium-textured clay soil, trained using the Guyot system, with vines ranging in age from 15 to 30 years.

100% Montepulciano, harvested by hand in mid-October. Each of these four vineyard plots is vinified separately, with its own fermentation and maceration period, before the wines are aged together in barriques for 12 to 18 months. Only then are the four crus blended, followed by bottling and further ageing in the bottle.

A clear, deep ruby red with garnet-red highlights. An intense, complex bouquet ranging from mint and fresh thyme, through undergrowth, red fruits, olive tapenade and grilled aromatic herbs, to aniseed and dark chocolate.
