“Visadi” Dolcetto Langhe DOC 2022
The grapes come from the Ginestra, Mosconi and San Pietro cru sites, with around 10 rows planted outside the appellation boundaries (this is why the wine is a Langhe Dolcetto and not a Dolcetto d'Alba). Beautiful, detailed aroma of rose gardens and lavender fields. The finish is slender, soft and silky with aromatic richness and plenty of fruit. A wonderfully complex Dolcetto in the impeccable style of the Clerico house. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is a wine that is fun to drink and reveals sweet, explosive fruit. It is charming through and through. The Domenico Clerico 2022 Langhe Dolcetto Visadì shows fresh sour cherry and summery blueberry. The fruit is sweet and fresh, and there are also subtle floral aromas." Wine Advocate

Light ruby red colour. Bric del Salto interprets the famous Piedmontese grape variety in a direct and classic way. A fruity bouquet is combined with the spiciness typical of Neive. The palate is again clear, with precise fruit, the right dose of fine tannins - and an inspiring freshness. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba Bric del Salto is fabulous. It's one of the most refined editions of this wine I can remember tasting. It’s as if Sottimano has taken all the old-school intensity of Dolcetto, polished the edges and put everything back together. Black cherry, licorice, leather and cloves build nicely. The 2022 saw nearly three weeks on the skins and was aged in steel. It is an incredibly distinctive wine." Vinous

“Coste & Fossati” Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2022 (BIO)
Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati is one of the most sought-after wines in the appellation every year. A very dark purple-coloured wine with a bouquet of roasted almonds, cherries, tar and chocolate. Voluminous, long and rich on the palate, velvety and juicy with a subtle sweetness and an impressive, gripping texture. Already a pleasure today and undoubtedly a great experience in a few years' time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lively fruit, enveloped by firm, muscular, sandy tannins. Dust and rose hips. Sour cherry. Vibrant fruit with a delicate, spicy note of forest floor and a hint of floral patterns. The finish contracts and then returns to the brightness of the fruit. Great juiciness!" Jancis Robinson
"The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati is a powerful, deep wine. Black cherry, plum, leather, grilled herbs, gravel, lavender and spices give it remarkable complexity. The imposing tannins and rich fruit give this wine a very serious flavour. The 2022 is a wine for the dinner table." Vinous
"Grown within two Barolo MGAs, the grapes for this wine are only picked when the leaves and stems have turned red, which represents phenolic maturity, ensuring good structure and good fruit concentration. Full of tangy red and black cherry aromas and flavours with a touch of creaminess, this is bright and fresh. Vibrant and vertical, with a long, saline finish, its juicy fruit is underlined by subtle fine tannins and mouthwatering acidity." Decanter
"The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati from organic farming shows a rich, dark fruit with a pronounced sweet side. There is soft cherry, blackberry and crème de cassis. The wine is quite full-bodied and juicy and is an excellent accompaniment to wood-fired pizza." Wine Advocate

“Bricco Botti” Dogliani Superiore DOCG 2019
Dolcetto Bricco Botti is one of the most profound and refined expressions of the popular Piedmontese grape variety. The Dogliani appellation is particularly renowned for the purity and authenticity of these dark berry flavours and the bright acidity associated with Dolcetto. This wine presents itself precise, clear, concentrated and with a lot of bright primary fruit. As it continues to drink, it is soft and fleshy with a very pleasant texture. This is a great textbook Dogliani and worthy of a superb brasato al Barolo. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sweetly perfumed with candied cherries and lemons. Some violets, too. Medium body. Creamy texture with some firmness. Fresh finish." James Suckling
"The 2019 Dogliani Superiore Bricco Botti impresses with its aromatic breadth and overall complexity. Dried leaves, iron, lavender, game and pipe tobacco meld into a core of dark-fleshed fruit, with firm, muscular tannins that provide the frame. There's plenty to admire in this rich Dogliani." Vinous

“Priavino” Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2022
Juice and power is the headline for this immensely dense and fleshy Dolcetto, which already announces what awaits the senses in a rich ruby-violet. Lots of dark, sweet cherry, along with tobacco, leather and incense pour out of the glass and then hit the palate in concentrated form, embedded in a beautiful, silky, lush texture. In the long, incredibly juicy finish, lavender, violets and white pepper can be found. Roberto Voerzio proves once again how, even apart from the great Barolos of his repertoire, one can make a dreamlike, great wine from the Dolcetto grape with yield reduction and uncompromisingness! Dolcetto d’Alba DOC 2022
Brilliant dark ruby red. Creamy bouquet with delicate hints of dark chocolate and black cherry. Consistent taste with a delicate typical bitter note, black fruits again and a wonderfully fresh weave of acidity and tannin. A perfect and inexpensive introduction to the great wines of Roagna! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba is exquisite. In this vintage, the Dolcetto is wonderfully lifted and finessed. Crushed flowers, blue/purplish fruit, mint and lavender are some of the many nuances that grace this striking Dolcetto. The 2022 saw 60 days on the skins, with submerged cap maceration, followed by a year in cask. It is quite simply one of the best Dolcettos I have tasted from Roagna. This is a very serious wine by any measure." Vinous

The name Dolcetto could be freely translated as "Sweet little one". Although the grapes, like the berries, are actually quite big and the sugar content is not really higher than with other red wine grapes in Piedmont. Since Piedmont still speaks relatively old dialects, which differ considerably from region to region, Dolcetto also has a lot of synonyms in its linguistic usage. From Dozzeti, Dolchetto or Dolcino, over unpronounceable versions up to origin designations like Uva del Monferrato or Uva di Ovada. In some local wine bars it is advisable to ask twice if you want to know what you have in your glass.
Dolcetto seems to be a quite old regional and/or autochthonous grape variety. The first mention of Dolcetto dates back to 1300 A.D. All suspected relatives with other grape varieties could not be proven in DNA analyses, not even with the white grape variety Dolcetto Bianco.
Dolcetto used to be widespread, but in the last few decades it has been replaced by Barbera and Nebbiolo, although with careful care and skilful ageing it is possible to produce very fine, fruity red wines. Dolcetto is much earlier accessible, more velvety and less tannic and acidic than its more famous neighbours in the vineyard. The aromatic spectrum includes black berries, sour cherries, plums and often a hint of liquorice or bitter almond. Piedmontese people appreciate Dolcetto as a rather universal accompaniment to regional cuisine.
Under other names Dolcetto can also be found here and there in other regions of Italy, as Ormaesco in Liguria or as Nibiò in Umbria. There are also tiny quantities overseas, brought by emigrants in earlier times. The Dolcetto currently thrives on about 6,500 hectares, 20 years ago it was still over 7,000. SUPERIORE.DE
