Two hands, one dream: when Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma discovered the wild hills of Riparbella in 2000 – unploughed, stony, overgrown with maquis –they recognised the potential of this rugged terroir between 250 and 300 metres above sea level. Here, where the salty breeze of the Tyrrhenian Sea meets the Mediterranean wilderness, one of Italy's most extraordinary Cabernet Francs has been produced for over two decades. Luca D'Attoma, legendary Oenologist and creator of iconic wines such as Le Macchioles Messorio, focuses on radical purity: biodynamic cultivation according to Demeter guidelines, spontaneous fermentation in conical oak barrels, 20 months maturation in barriques with 80 per cent new wood.

The Duemani 2021 presents itself with inky black concentration and a powerful presence in the glass. Its aroma reveals dark berry fruits – blackberry and blackcurrant –framed by bay leaf, tobacco leaf and a hint of green curry spice. Full-bodied density unfolds on the palate with 15 per cent alcohol by volume, carried by ripe, aristocratic tannins and salty minerality, which makes the wine appear surprisingly light-footed despite its power. Black cherry, rosemary, Mediterranean scrub – every sip tells of this unique place where sea, sky and earth merge.
