Obtained from a small, high-altitude vineyard in the historic San Cristoforo cru site above Neive, this Barbaresco combines terroir depth with contemplative maturity. The clay and limestone-rich soil, the exposed south-east exposure and the late harvest characterise the concentrated style. Three weeks of maceration are followed by a long, patient ageing regime: two years in large oak barrels, a further six months in concrete and then many more years in the bottle – until it opens up with the expression that only time can give.

Bright garnet red in the glass with light brick-red reflections. The aroma is mature yet lively: dried cherries, dates, leather, black tea, forest floor and a fine hint of smoke. Then spicy depth: allspice, liquorice, clove, a hint of balsam. Nothing dominant, everything delicately interwoven. Silky texture and calm density on the palate. The tannins are soft but still present, the acidity provides structure and freshness. The long finish carries hints of tar, orange zest and roasted wood – carried by an unagitated harmony. Spezie is not just a name, but a programme: a spice rack of emotions, matured in the stillness of the years. A Riserva with depth, inner balance and that rare aura that makes mature Barbaresco icons.
