Essenze is no coincidence of a name. This Barolo from the appellation's historic heartland does not seek to make a splash, but rather to capture the essence: provenance, typicity and inner depth. The grapes come from selected plots around the village of Barolo itself – including the renowned Cannubi, Liste and Fossati vineyards, whose limestone-rich marl soils and varying altitudes lend the wine a multi-layered character. Following fermentation on the skins, the wine matures for two years in large and small barrels made of Slavonian and French oak – vinified separately according to the character of each plot before the final cuvée is blended.

In the glass, a deep ruby red with a garnet-red rim. The bouquet is delicate and characteristic: sour cherry, dried rose petals and redcurrant, accompanied by hints of tar, truffle and a delicate herbal spice. Nuances of light tobacco and fine cedarwood also emerge, subtle yet distinctive. On the palate, it is focused and straightforward, with precise fruit and a cool structure. The tannins are present but already remarkably polished; the acidity is taut and invigorating. As it breathes, the wine opens up to reveal greater fullness, refined depth and a spicy, mineral-driven finish. Essenze is a Barolo with a classic soul and a distinct profile. SUPERIORE.DE
