Bright garnet colour with a ruby red core. A polyphonic, clear Nebbiolo image on the nose: sour cherry, red forest berries and pomegranate, plus dried roses, white pepper, liquorice and a cool, stony-mineral undertone. Silky and taut at the same time on the palate, the fruit is clear as a bell, carried by lively, straight acidity and fine-grained, chalky tannins; the wood only appears as a textural finishing touch. Very long, salty-mineral finish with a delicate herbal freshness. A Fausoni-Barbaresco from the MGA of the same name with calm authority and precise elegance – transparent, full of energy and with outstanding potential for the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Straight, medium ruby red colour. Mineral and stony notes over slumbering raspberry fruit. Embryonic fruit on the palate with a firm core of tannins. Elegant yet with a certain power." Jancis Robinson
"Incense, warm spices and liquorice roots dance with savoury and dried roses, forcing you to look twice at this Barbaresco. High-toned red berry fruit plays a supporting role to the seductive savoury and spice flavours that add a mysterious accent. The fullness of the mouth reveals macerated black cherries, crushed pepper, crushed bay leaf and dried porcini mushrooms. The initially assertive tannins soften and emphasise the elegance of the wine." Wine Enthusiast
"With notes of macerated cherries and kirsch, this exuberant red wine offers an abundance of red fruits, rosehips, eucalyptus and light tar flavours. It firms up nicely and leaves a chalky feel on the long finish. It offers a refined texture, with great harmony and intensity." Wine Spectator
"The Sottimano 2021 Barbaresco Fausoni has more vigour and texture thanks to the clayey and sandy soils that make the difference. In terms of aromas, this wine is quite floral and delicate with citrus oils, dates, tamarind and lavender. The tannins are elegant and chalky." Wine Advocate
"The Barbaresco Fausoni 2021 is a wine for those who appreciate the more straightforward, old-school Nebbiolo style. Chalk, white pepper, mint, tobacco, cedar, blood orange and sweet red cherry fruit race across the palate. The 2021 won't be ready anytime soon, but it's an absolutely outstanding wine in the making." Vinous
