The bouquet shows a phenomenal blend of pure fruit with wild berries and herbs, before further depths of floral undergrowth and smoky nuances are added. The palate is full, silky smooth, with polished red and black fruits, then savoury spices and hints of sour citrus as it progresses. A hint of liquorice and mint lingers together with a layer of ultra-fine tannins on the long and lightly structured finish. For us, the San Polino Brunello is a prime example of finesse and elegance every year and a beauty on all levels. SUPERIORE.DE
"Very appealing, wide-ranging, ripe bouquet, with floral top notes and the typical sour cherry, Amarena, tobacco, dark chocolate, very complex and engaging. Balanced in the mouth with a juicy mellowness, rich and concentrated, at the same time polished, intense final with ripe fruit and spice. Indicates early accessibility." Weinwisser
"Quite a firm aroma of predominantly dark berries and a little plum with tobacco and somewhat cedary oak notes, leather, animal notes, liquorice, allspice, undergrowth, tomato paste and tar. Ripe, rather dark, tightly knit, juicy fruit with slightly roasted and hints of bitter chocolate wood notes, crumbly-sandy tannins, some salted caramel on the palate, a little ashy tones, juniper and a hint of pepper, some iron in the background, hints of black olives and root vegetables, fine red spiciness, very good, albeit still slightly brittle finish with herbal notes." Wein-Plus
"It has an engaging aroma of tobacco, pine forest and dark red cherries, while medicinal herbs and bergamot are evident on the palate. It is powerfully built and is carried by terracotta-like tannins and fresh acidity." Decanter
"Pretty raspberry, peach and citrus flavours follow through to a medium to full body with crisp fruit and tannins and a juicy finish. Quite a velvety texture with a slight phenolic flavour." James Suckling
