Sugarille has always been the most aristocratic of the estate's three Brunellos. On the palate, it has a dense core of primary fruit, excitingly surrounded by a salty, mineral vein that we otherwise only find in Giacomo Neri's Tenuta Nuova. This wine awakens the imagination, because it never reveals too much of itself, but first opens up slowly, then in a well-proportioned manner with a mysterious depth and race, flanked by direct and linear tannins that round off the polyphonic palate concert excellently. "The south-facing Sugarille vineyard extends over 3.5 hectares at an altitude of 280 to 300 metres above sea level on slate marl with limestone inclusions. Only the more mature, 25-year-old plantings are used for this bottling. Pronounced spiced plum meets sun-baked stone and wild strawberry. It fills the mouth with mineral, fleshy fruit wrapped in loamy, sticky tannins that offer complex texture and bite. The balancing acidity refreshes the palate.
