Since 1995, Le Cupole has been the accessible gateway to the world of the legendary Tenuta di Trinoro, yet at this visionary winery, "accessible" never means compromise. In the Val d'Orcia, where southern Tuscany reveals its wild and unspoilt side, near Sarteano on the border with Umbria and Lazio, the eccentric scion of the Cinzano empire and nephew of the American painter Cy Twombly created a wine paradise at an altitude of 500 to 700 metres, an idea that was initially considered madness. Le Cupole is made from the same Bordeaux blend as the great Tenuta di Trinoro – Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot – but comes from younger vines on deeper, less extreme soils. The proportions vary depending on the vintage in order to best reflect the characteristics of the harvest.

In the glass, the 2023 vintage displays a brilliant ruby red colour with garnet-red highlights and unfolds a bouquet of intense fruitiness: Ripe Amarena cherries, blackberries and dark plums blend with notes of redcurrant and cassis, whilst spicy accents of sweet tobacco, liquorice root and a hint of mocha lend depth to the bouquet. Balsamic nuances and a delicate floral note round off the aromatic profile. On the palate, this Le Cupole is velvety and full-bodied, with fleshy, light-coloured fruit and well-integrated, silky tannins that envelop the palate like a caress. The structure is powerful and concentrated, yet perfectly balanced across all components, underpinned by a lively acidity that lends the wine freshness and drinkability.
