Querciabella came to the Maremma at the end of the 1990s – not because the region was en vogue at the time, but because the potential was obvious: a coastal area south of Grosseto, iron-rich soils, sea breezes, wild macchia landscape. The first Maremma experiment was the Mongrana Rosso 2005. Twenty years of biodynamic work later, the conviction has grown – and with it the courage to produce a pure white wine. Mongrana Bianco has been available since 2020. Since the repositioning: 100% Vermentino. No blending, no support from other varieties. The grapes come from iron-rich soils at 30 to 50 metres – silt, alluvial sand, gravel – and are harvested early in the morning when the cool temperatures preserve the flavour and natural acidity. Matured for six months in cement and steel, only 18,000 bottles.

Bright straw yellow with golden reflections. Citrus, golden plum, peach and wild herbs on the nose – fresh, fragrant, with a sea breeze vibrancy that immediately evokes the Maremma. Crisp and fresh on the palate, with vibrant acidity, fine herbal notes and a clean, elegant finish. A Vermentino that shows its place – and needs nothing else. SUPERIORE.DE
