In the treasure troves of time, where ancient wisdom meets modern vision, Petruna Anfora is born – a tribute to the origins of viticulture and at the same time a revolutionary expression of pure Sangiovese. The hand-picked grapes for this extraordinary experiment in clay and time come from the unique single vineyard Casa al Coltro, where slate soils at an altitude of 350 metres force the vines to achieve the utmost concentration.

The story begins with Salvatore Ferragamo's passion for amphora vinification, the millennia-old technique that characterised Georgia and the ancient world. Large terracotta amphorae become silent witnesses to a transformation: after destemming and optical selection, the must ferments in these earthen vessels, while the daily "follatura" – the careful submersion of the mash – the extraction. Sealed under stainless steel lids for twelve months, the Sangiovese matures in intimate contact with the skins and terracotta, without any hint of wood, but with the mineral soul of the clay.

Deep ruby red with terrificaromas that only Sangiovese can give in its purest form: sweet cherries and wild berries intertwine with delicate notes of violets and a hint of orange peel. Mushroomy earthiness and the characteristic minerality of the amphora lend the bouquet an almost mystical depth. A velvety, almost Pinot Noir-like texture unfolds on the palate – proof of how amphora maturation can transform Sangiovese. Lively acidity and silky integrated tannins carry a fruit fullness of remarkable clarity, while the long, powerful final reveals the full personality of this unique vinification.
