In the heart of the Val d'Arno lies Campo Asciutto – the "dry field" that agronomist Giorgio Perrin described in 1834 as the pearl of this terroir praised by Cosimo III de' Medici. It was here that engineer Gastone Bazzocchi planted his vision of a great Sangiovese in 1952, a dream of five hectares that is now considered the oldest and best Sangiovese vineyard in Petrolo. The "C" stands for Classico – the traditional interpretation of this exceptional crus.

Since 2019, the Bòggina C has been produced exclusively as a Riserva, worthy of the complexity and maturity that this historic vineyard produces. massal selection over decades has preserved the diversity of the original clones, while the yield reduction to a maximum of 1.1 kilograms per vine ensures the concentration of all noble components. After spontaneous vinification with indigenous yeasts in glazed cement vats and long, gentle macerations, the wine matures for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels – first in 40-hectolitre barrels, then in seven-hectolitre tonneaux.

Time shapes a Sangiovese of impressive density and depth: dried cherries and blackcurrants on the nose, accompanied by roasted spices, tarry smoke and leather. A generous, medium-bodied texture unfolds on the palate with polished tannins and that authentic personality that can only come from the symbiosis between a visionary winemaker and an exceptional terroir.
