In the hills between Castagneto Carducci and the Tyrrhenian Sea, Grattamacco has achieved a remarkable feat: an elegant Vermentino that brings together terroir, grape variety and vinification methods with rare depth. The grapes come from organically farmed plots at a coastal altitude – which are constantly well-ventilated, yet characterised by intense sunshine and a significant day-night temperature difference. The combination of sea breezes and limestone soils produces a white wine of impressive substance.

In the glass, it is a pale gold with a greenish sheen. The bouquet is complex and delicate: citrus blossom, mandarin, Williams pear, a hint of sage and wet stone. On the palate, it is both fresh and structured, with juicy fruit, crisp yet well-integrated acidity, subtle tannins and a salty, mineral core. The delicate oak influence remains in the background, but lends depth and a silky texture. The finish is long, balanced and with a subtle intensity – —not an explosion of aromas, but a quiet, lingering finish that speaks to its provenance and the precision of the winemaking.
