2019 is considered one of the vintage highlights of the last decade in Barolo: cool nights, sunny days and a long vegetation period led to perfectly balanced ripeness. In Bricco Pernice, this meant maximum aromatic clarity and structural depth. The high, south-westerly exposure in the Ravera cru site ensures an interplay of warmth and freshness, while the calcareous marl soils promote a taut, vertical style.
The 2019 is dense and bright in the glass. On the nose, juicy sour cherry, ripe raspberry and cassis meet hints of dried roses, rosehip, iron and a fine herbal note reminiscent of sage. The palate is expansive yet precise: supple yet assertive tannins, lively acidity and a salty, mineral core that makes the depth of the vineyard palpable. The final is endless, characterised by balsamic nuances and delicate graphite – A Barolo that brings its origin and top vintage to the glass with proud clarity. Around 4,000 bottles were bottled.
