The Vigna del Rolat vineyard – barely two hectares in size – lies on the south-eastern slopes of Monte Quarin. There, where the view stretches across the gentle undulations of the Collio as far as Slovenia. Here, on the fossil-rich marl soils of the Ponca, Friulano has been grown for generations. This is the grape variety that defines the Collio like no other. Dario Raccaro is not a man of many words. His family has been cultivating these slopes since 1928, and throughout all these decades, their philosophy has remained unchanged: the vineyard speaks, the winemaker interprets. Among connoisseurs, the Vigna del Rolat is regarded as one of the Collio's most significant single-vineyard sites, and the Friulano produced from it possesses that class which recently led Daniele Cernilli of Doctor Wine to name it the best white wine in Italy. It is a wine that lingers on the palate.

The 2024 vintage showcases the grape variety in its purest form. The harvest are harvest at optimal physiological ripeness; gentle pressing preserves the finesse, whilst temperature-controlled fermentation at 18 degrees preserves every aromatic nuance. The wine rests for six months in stainless steel, without any influence from wood – a pure expression of the terroir. An intense straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose unfolds in layers: white flowers, ripe Williams pear, a hint of honeydew melon, accompanied by the typical notes of fresh almonds and herbs from the maquis. On the palate, the full dimension of this wine is revealed – full-bodied and round, underpinned by a vibrant freshness, with the crystalline minerality of the Ponca permeating every fibre.
