Poggio San Polo's Brunello is a selection of the best grapes from the estate's various vineyard sites. It opens very engagingly with dark fruit, including plenty of black cherry and dark plum, rounded off by aromas of undergrowth, rose petals, new leather and wild mint. Pleasing texture, suppleness and silkiness on the palate, refreshed and carried by a well-presented, refined Sangiovese acidity. Dark berry flavours, long, deep and with a slightly mineral final. "Intense and yet also cool, still slightly closed aroma, still clearly characterised by dark roasted notes, thus appears modern with delicate jammy fruit, jellied cherries, tobacco, chocolate. Creamy palate with dense and ripe fruit, but also good, long-lasting freshness." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red colour with a violet hue. Intense fruit on the nose, plum and cherry, with floral notes reminiscent of hibiscus. Currant and blueberry on the palate, lots of juice, harmonious, rich tannins, vibrant acidity structure, elegant, medium-long finish." Falstaff
"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a ripe and toasted expression that stands on a dual base of black fruit and oak spice. Brunello is known for its power and intensity. This winery manages to produce one of the fuller-bodied interpretations. But the wine is by no means just full-bodied. The 2020 vintage is somewhat leaner on the palate with bright acidity and an accessible personality." Wine Advocate
"A bright red with flavours of raspberries, strawberries and roses, delicate but not fragile. Lively acidity and a firm line of tannins emerge on the finish, where it picks up vegetal, earthy and mineral elements." Wine Spectator
"Lots of red fruit with cherry and orange peel character both on the nose and on the palate. Medium-bodied with a round texture and ripe berry character. Juicy and with a velvety texture. Just a hint of white pepper and spice on the finish." James Suckling
