As early as 1928, Marchese Niccolò Antinori created a Chianti Classico that was to mature and improve – a wine for embassies, royalty and the world's great hotels. Almost a century later, Villa Antinori Riserva carries on this legacy, reinterpreted in the spectacular Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery: delicate, decisive, elegant. The grapes grow where Tuscan wine history is written – on the historic vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello and Badia a Passignano, right in the heart of Chianti Classico.

Ninety per cent Sangiovese forms the backbone, flanked by seven per cent Cabernet Sauvignon and three per cent Syrah: tradition meets contemporary interpretation. The vines are rooted between 300 and 400 metres above sea level in calcareous soils from Alberese and Galestro, at that magical point where maritime breezes from the sea meet continental winds from the mountains. Ruby red in the glass. Flattering notes of blackberry, medlar jam, raspberry jelly, plus tobacco, liquorice, candied lemon peel and cocoa.
