    Monsanto's Chianti Classico Annata is made from the estate's youngest vines and combines immediate drinkability with the depth that the soil at Monsanto imparts to all its wines. 90% Sangiovese, complemented by 5% each of Canaiolo and Colorino, comes from those plots that have proved particularly suitable for ageing in large casks. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled, truncated-cone-shaped steel tanks, accompanied by délestage and pumping over for 18 to 20 days. This is followed by around a year's ageing in large 50-hectolitre oak barrels, rounded off by three months' bottle ageing.

    A medium ruby red. On the nose, cherry, plum and delicate floral notes. On the palate, soft tannins, pleasant freshness and a well-balanced, spicy and mineral character. A prime example of the appellation every year. SUPERIORE.DE
