    Manduria is one of Apulia's most prestigious Primitivo regions, and Villa Santera upholds this reputation with international acclaim – a Primitivo that has made its mark on the global stage without losing its Apulian soul. The vines, averaging forty years old, are rooted in loamy-clay soil and trained using the spur-pruning method, with 5,500 vines per hectare. Harvest takes place early, in the first ten days of September, with a deliberately low yield of 6 tonnes per hectare. Maceration and fermentation take place at 20 to 22°C to preserve the fruit and character without overpowering the wine. This is followed by a deliberate period of rest: six months in large wooden casks, where the wine gains depth without being dominated by toasty aromas, followed by at least a further three months in the bottle before it leaves the estate.

    The bouquet offers an intense interplay of red fruits and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, structured and elegant, with a warm, lingering finish that makes Manduria evident in every sip. SUPERIORE.DE
