Deep orange with amber highlights. A seductive bouquet – initially slightly reductive, then oxidative and sweet – with notes of dried orange, peach and sweet spices. On the palate, it has an impressively silky texture with lush fruit, honeyed notes and hints of baked apple and vanilla. "This wine has a brilliant golden, burnished brass colour, with a fragrant supernova of heather, ground white pepper, fennel seeds and crushed pine aromas bursting from the glass. On the palate, it is firm and chalky, combining a supple acidity with flavours of dried raspberries and white cherries, iodine, almond skin, chopped rosemary and iron, which slowly unfold in the long, concentrated finish. "From a much cooler vintage that generally produced slender and elegant wines, this is a darkly colored orange wine with shiny copper and ruby highlights. The Gravner 2014 Ribolla is a very successful interpretation of this unique grape from northeast Italy. Although you get macerated flavors that are found in other vintages, this wine shows more silkiness and subdued nuance. It does not have as much of that dusty white grape tannic quality that you often get in these wines.
