The 2020 is pleasantly chewy and long, leaving the senses with primary concentration, with hints of bitter cranberry and pretty inner flowers lingering over a bed of classic dry tannins. "The Il Marroneto 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of particular depth and elegance. Alessandro Mori tells me that the fermentation in 2020 went very well, with what he calls a "primordial stew" of grape must that results in high-pressure "geysers" or "liquid bombs" that rip right through the cap due to the build-up of pressure. Someone in the winery is having a lot of fun. The high temperatures (between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius) are responsible for the ruby red colour of the wine and the elegance of its aromas, which are more floral than fruity. At the end of fermentation, the grape skins are lightly moistened by hand with a hose. This vintage offers softness and a silky texture that feels brilliant on the palate." Wine Advocate
