Classic Sangiovese interpretation with a wonderful balance of elegance and power. Very firm, dark fruit, fine-grained tannins and a well-dosed acid wire. As it progresses, it opens up with a wealth of aromas of forest fruits, violets and freshly ploughed earth. A magical wine from a great vintage with an already recognisable longevity and great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"A great Brunello year. Multi-layered, broodingbouquet with subtle earthy-mineral notes reminiscent of grated stones, the finest spice with laurel and sous-bois, distinct orange peel, pomegranate and sour cherry. Skilfully and nobly framed by the finest tannin structure. Highly elegant on the palate, very clear and pure, enormously juicy and detailed, wonderfully balanced, grippy tannins with a sweetish texture, earthy-mineral and sublime sous-bois notes again, plus a touch of flint, elegant consistency with clear freshness, substance and class, beautiful spiciness, incredibly long and juicy on the final, with the noble bitterness of Sangiovese. Pure classicism!" Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red, sparkling and brilliant. Complex and broodingnose of rich cherries, tobacco and precious wood, with a dark spicy aftertaste. Very juicy on the palate, with very well-integrated tannins, finely creamy, comes in several waves, very elegant, balanced and harmonious, finesse-rich finish, great!" Falstaff
"This red wine initially feels open and juicy, with flavours of cherries, strawberries and flowers, before the firm edge of the still stiff tannins comes to the fore. The underlying minerality needs a little time to develop, but then determines the long aftertaste." Wine Spectator
"Very perfumed and fragrant with sweet berries and fresh roses leading to a medium body with lovely depth of fruit and balance. Racy and powerful, there is plenty to do in the centre of the palate. The legend lives on. It needs a few more years to open up, but is already impressive. Best after 2027." James Suckling
"The Biondi-Santi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino was born in a generous vintage that produced abundant, high-quality fruit. The growing season became warmer and warmer as the summer progressed, with no heat spikes, and ended with timely rains and a warm autumn. The harvest began in mid-September and the grapes ripened according to the right parameters without over-ripening. The wine has a natural texture carried by dark fruit, navel fruit, tobacco, bay leaf and Mediterranean herbs. Mineral flint notes add to the complexity. This beautiful wine hits a particular sweet spot: it offers the ethereal qualities you'd expect from this famous estate, with a good measure of austerity to match." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino draws the taster close to the glass, darkly floral and balsamic at first sip. It blossoms with a textbook profile of worn leather, dried rose, dusty earth, spice and dried black cherry. The palate is silky smooth with notes of ripe red and black fruits, underscored by salty mineral tones that give a crisp yet savoury feel towards the end. The finish is of enormous length and concentration, emphasised by a hint of sour citrus fruit. Fine-grained tannins resonate under a hint of sweet lavender. The 2019 is classic through and through. With such depth in the Anatta, one can only imagine what the Riserva will reveal." Vinous
"The latest Brunello from Biondi Santi is solidly built on classic lines. It is captivating and austere, with hints of pomegranate and tea leaf at the beginning, with balsamic rosemary and sage flowers that unfold as the wine opens. Neither too dense nor too powerful, it favours grace and straightforwardness instead. Firm, al dente tannins expand and form a sinewy core of blood orange and pink grapefruit. Nervous energy creates an edgy tension, and appetising bitter herbs lead to a promising finish." Decanter
