The name alone conjures up images: La Luna e i Falò – "The moon and the fires". An allusion to Cesare Pavese's novel of the same name, a reflection of a deep-rooted love of one's homeland, melancholic and powerful at the same time. And so is this Barbera from the heart of the Nizza region – deep in the Monferrato – is not just a pleasant wine, but an expression of inner density and grown identity. The grapes come from old vineyards around Agliano Terme, with poor, calcareous soils and optimal south to south-west exposure. After a long maceration period, the wine is aged for 18 months in French barriques, followed by further maturation in the bottle. A Riserva with format, precision and the necessary breath.

Rich, dense ruby colour with a purple core in the glass. The nose is dark and complex: blackberries, black cherries and elderberries, accompanied by violets, roasted coffee, dark chocolate and a hint of dried herbs. Full-bodied on the palate, densely woven and carried by juicy, ripe fruit. The tannins are powerful but silky, the acidity fresh and deeply integrated. The use of wood remains present, yet masterfully integrated. Balsamic notes, a hint of cinnamon and mineral accents emerge in the long, spicy final – nothing pushes forward, everything remains in balance. A character study, emotionally charged, with a fine balance between warmth and earthiness. A wine that doesn't just want to please, but to touch. For all those who expect more behind the mere fruit.
