An icon of Friuli: "Vigna Dominin" Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso comes from a single vineyard with old vines that are deeply rooted in the typical Ponca soil. Paolo Meroi brings out the best in this demanding, indigenous grape variety with a precision that few winegrowers have mastered. After strict manual harvesting, the wine is matured for 24 months in French barriques and a further year in the bottle before being released in very small quantities.

Deep, dark ruby red in the glass with a garnet-red rim. The bouquet is of breathtaking complexity: blackcurrant, sour cherry and blackberry, plus notes of liquorice, juniper, fine tobacco, undergrowth and a hint of dark chocolate. Dense and focussed on the palate, with ripe, fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a powerful, salty-mineral vein. The finish is long, structured and infused with subtle spice. This Refosco is a monument to its grape variety - powerful, deep and precise at the same time.
