The Petit Rouge grape variety is the backbone of the Aosta Valley. Those who know it only ever know it as Torrette DOC – the oldest and largest appellation in the region. A red wine that has been served for generations as naturally as the mountain cheese fondue next to it. The Charrère family knows this tradition better than most. And yet they made a different decision in 2019. Not a Torrette DOC. Instead, a Valle d'Aosta DOC rosé. The idea: the same indigenous variety, different clones, old vines – but read differently. Not as a red wine, but as something that the mountain can tell in its lightest, freshest form.

The vineyards are located in Aymavilles at 700 metres, north-west exposure, loose sandy moraine, Guyot training, 7,500 plants per hectare. Hand-picked at the end of September. In the cellar: three hours of skin contact with chilled whole bunches in the press – no more, no less. Twelve days of fermentation at 14 °C in steel, two months sur lies. Everything designed for freshness and precision.

Brilliant, delicate old rose colour in the glass. The nose is floral and fruity: strawberry, redcurrant, white melon pulp. Fresh and lively on the palate, with a white peach flavour, fine structure, good acidity and the salty finish typical of Les Crêtes. Not a rosé that bends.
