In 1940, the Antinori family acquired the Castello della Sala, a medieval fortress in northern Umbria, near Orvieto. Their ambitious plan was to produce white wines of great character and personality from a region that had, until then, been known primarily for its red Sangiovese. Across 140 hectares of vineyards at altitudes of between 200 and 350 metres, on clay-limestone soils with fossil deposits, in a climate cooler than the Umbrian average, Chardonnay finally found its perfect Umbrian home.

Bramito is the stag's rutting cry – the counterpart to the great Cervaro della Sala, with which the estate has been setting standards since 1985. Not a quiet companion in the second row, but a voice of its own. Early hand-harvesting in early September. Short cold maceration at 10°C, lasting 2 to 4 hours. The must ferments partly in steel and partly in French barriques at 16 to 18°C; only the portion aged in wood undergoes malolactic fermentation to gain texture without losing freshness. Five months in barriques, followed by blending and bottling.

Pale straw yellow with green highlights. On the nose: lychee, mango, grapefruit, cedar wood and a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is well-balanced, characterised by lively freshness, with a mineral, lingering final. From Umbria, bearing the distinctive Antinori signature. SUPERIORE.DE
