It all began with observation. In 2004, Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted on a three-hectare plot of the Tenuta, on sandy mixed soils. For years, the team watched as these vines grew, matured and developed. And they were surprised by the quality the vines displayed, vintage after vintage. Eleven years passed. Then, in 2015, the decision was made: to make a wine of their own from these grapes. The name was inspired by the essence of the place: Lux Vitis – the light of the vine. "In honour of the light to which all life is indebted."

The sandy soil profile of this plot is crucial: it forces the Cabernet Sauvignon to concentrate, encourages deep root growth and imparts a freshness to the wine that heavy soils cannot provide. The 2020 harvest began with a mild, dry winter, which encouraged early budbreak – Sangiovese in the second week of March, Cabernet in the third. Spring was mild, with regular rainfall in March and May, and ideal flowering conditions in the last week of May. June brought three weeks of rain, which gave the vines the strength they needed for the hot, dry summer. On 24 September: hand-harvested under sunny, mild skies. Healthy grapes, exceptional phenolic ripeness. Concrete tanks, 12 days' fermentation at 28°C, 20 days' maceration, malolactic fermentation in barriques. Then 24 months in exclusively new French oak barriques. Just a thousand bottles.

An intense ruby red. On the nose, redcurrant, ripe fruit, sweet violets and a hint of cocoa powder. Full-bodied and silky smooth on the palate, supported by lively acidity and elegant tannins.
