A white wine from Trinoro? In 2001, Andrea Franchetti planted Sémillon on a tiny sandy plot in the woods, at an altitude of 630 metres – originally with the aim of creating a sweet wine. Yet year after year, the harvest yielded dry, concentrated grapes. What followed was a wine that Franchetti initially kept solely for himself: tasted, analysed and perfected over many years. It was not until 2017 that he ventured to produce the first commercial bottling. Today, after more than two decades, Trinoro Bianco is regarded as one of Tuscany's most fascinating white wines. Fermented partly in stainless-steel tanks and partly in small wooden barrels, and matured in concrete tanks – a winemaking process that preserves both purity and structure in equal measure.

The 2023 vintage embodies what Sémillon is capable of on Tuscan terroir. A radiant golden yellow. The nose is bursting with vitality: fresh pear, white flowers, citrus zest, accompanied by subtle notes of jasmine and golden apple. An aroma brimming with insatiable energy that captivates immediately. On the palate, the full complexity unfolds: full-bodied, with a silky texture and a freshness derived from the high altitude and the cool September harvest. The high, radiant acidity cuts through the body, lending the wine tension and length without ever seeming harsh. It is enchanting even in its youth, although it will certainly only reach its peak after ten years. Bianco Trinoro demands patience – yet those who wait will be rewarded with a depth and elegance that is unrivalled in Tuscany. Only 2,900 bottles were bottled in 2023 – a comparatively generous harvest for this micro-plot in the woods.
