    "When Baron Philippe de Rothschild plants Sangiovese, I will switch to Cabernet Sauvignon." John Dunkley, the British founder of Riecine, uttered these words at a time when Sangiovese was under pressure in Tuscany. It was a declaration of faith. And it remained the foundation of the estate through all changes of ownership – until July 2024, when Alessandro Campatelli, the cellar master and director since 2016, acquired the remaining shares and Riecine became entirely his own.

    The 2024 vintage is Alessandro's first as sole owner. The philosophy remains the same: 100% Sangiovese from organically farmed vineyards at an altitude of 450 to 500 metres in Gaiole in Chianti, on stony limestone soils with a clay component, surrounded by cypresses and conifers – trees that lend the wine that characteristic freshness and spice which make Riecine so distinctive. Spontaneous fermentation, separate vinification by plot in unglazed concrete Nomblot tanks, 15 days' maceration. Followed by 11 months in used tonneaux – no new wood, no foreign character. Three months in bottle.

    A brilliant ruby red. On the nose, violets, cherry, juniper and a hint of sealing wax – elegant and of great aromatic finesse.
