    The slope at Margreid descends gently, and at its foot, at altitudes of between 220 and 350 metres, the vines for the Vangar—facing south-southeast—grow on light, deep limestone gravel with well-aerated humus. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters; in the afternoons, a warm southerly wind blows in from Lake Garda. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and fermented on the cap in stainless-steel tanks, with gentle agitation. The wine is then aged for twelve months in barriques.

    An intense ruby red. On the nose, sour cherry and blueberry, with a hint of fresh pepper. The palate is harmonious and juicy, with spicy tannins. Bordeaux grape varieties in South Tyrol might sound like a detour, but here they are anything but: fruit up front, spice on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
