    A Rosato with a name that has a person behind it. Rosy Pio was the granddaughter of the founder – and the grandmother of Federica and Cesare, the fifth generation of the house. The Pio Cesare family carries its history in its wines. This one bears it in its name. The decision to vinify Nebbiolo as a rosé was a matter of the heart: a small addition of Syrah, their own vineyards in Treiso in the Barbaresco region, various exposures and locations. Early harvest in small crates after strict selection in the vineyard, gentle pressing with short maceration. Fermentation partly in stainless steel, partly in non-new French oak barriques. One month on the lees.

    The result is not a light summer rosé – but a wine with body, structure and ageing potential that feels just as at home with important dishes as it does as an aperitif. Amber pink in colour. Fresh red fruit, floral notes, spices and a fine minerality on the nose – intense and complex. Juicy and flavoursome on the palate, with a good body and a long, lively finish. SUPERIORE.DE
