The grapes for this elegant Nebbiolo come from the Ravera di Monforte vineyard, a small plot with limestone and clay soils on the south-eastern slope above the village of Monforte d'Alba. It shares its name with the famous Novello cru, but is distinct in its own right, characterised by stony soils that lend the roots depth and minerality. A brilliant garnet red with a ruby-coloured core. The bouquet opens with clear, youthful fruit: sour cherry, redcurrant and a hint of raspberry, underpinned by violets, dried herbs and a subtle hint of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is taut and fresh, with precise acidity, ripe tannins and an invigorating, slightly salty finish. "The Nebbiolo shows a slightly broad profile that reflects the warmth of the vintage. Sourced from younger vines in Barolo-designated vineyards, a common practice in the Langhe that allows for earlier-drinking expressions of Nebbiolo, the wine presents a medium-dark color with high-toned notes of grilled herbs, bitter rose and lightly macerated cherry skin. There is a little more weight and power here compared to a typical Langhe Nebbiolo, yet the bottle maintains a distinct personality that sets it apart from more commercial expressions." Wine Advocate
