There are moments in wine history when terroir, vintage and human mastery come together to create something extraordinary. The Barolo Bricco Boschis 2021 is one such moment – born from one of the most celebrated vintages in recent history and from a vineyard that has belonged exclusively to the Cavallotto family for almost a century. 2021 was the year that reminded Barolo lovers of the classic virtues of the great vintages: elegance instead of power, finesse instead of opulence, freshness instead of overripe sweetness.

In the heart of Bricco Boschi, three historic parcels come together to form this cuvée: Colle Sud Ovest, Vigna Punta Marcello and Vigna San Giuseppe. Here, where the sediments of ancient sea beds have formed a unique mosaic of marl, limestone and sand veins, 45-year-old Nebbiolo vines thrive on 7.3 hectares. The vinification follows the same traditions: 20-35 days of skin maceration with semi-submerged cap, followed by 36-42 months of ageing in Slavonian oak barrels of various sizes – from 20 to 100 hectolitres.

The 2021 reveals itself in an intense garnet red colour with amber reflections. The bouquet reveals a classic Nebbiolo complexity: ripe cherry and redcurrant at the centre, framed by roses, violets and earthy notes of hay, eucalyptus and wild thyme. The celebrated balance of the vintage is evident on the palate: powerful structure with already supple tannins, lively acidity and that mineral length that only the great Piedmont vineyards can provide.
