The grapes come from selected hillside parcels around Alba. After careful manual harvesting, they are carefully destemmed, fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel and briefly macerated; subsequent storage on fine lees in tanks preserves freshness, varietal purity and the typical drinkability. Bright ruby red in colour with a violet hue. Red cherry and blackberry on the nose, along with violets, a hint of plum and the delicate bitter almond note that makes Dolcetto so charming. Juicy and straightforward on the palate: pure fruit, moderately lively acidity and fine-grained, soft tannins; a cool, slightly mineral flavour keeps the final clear and animating. This characterful Greco di Tufo comes from high-altitude plots around Lapio, where Clelia Romano works meticulously and skilfully on volcanic-calcareous soils. Alèxandros is matured in stainless steel tanks in order to bring the varietal typicity and mineral character of the terroir unadulterated into the glass. Light straw yellow in colour with a greenish tinge. The nose shows ripe yellow fruit – williams pear, lemon zest, a hint of apricot – accompanied by floral notes and delicate smoke. Taut on the palate, with lively acidity, juicy fruit and a fine, chalky finish. The typical salinity of Greco is elegantly emphasised here. When the Antinori family founded their Apulian branch Tormaresca in 1998, they set an example: Southern Italy could deliver more than quantity. The first alcoholic fermentation of the must takes place in steel vats on the fine lees at a controlled temperature and after a waiting period of at least six months, the wine is bottled. Only 1.5 kilometres separate the vineyards of Capitel Croce and Foscarino – but geologically they are worlds apart. While Foscarino is rooted in volcanic rock, Croce is enthroned on the pure limestone of the Zoppega hill. "Croce like Calcareo", Roberto likes to say as a mnemonic. Here, in the highest areas of his estate, perhaps his most uncompromising wine has been growing since 1982: 100 per cent Garganega, matured for eight months in old Allier barriques. What makes this wine so exceptional is not just its origin, but Roberto's radical approach: only 45 hectolitres per hectare, late selective harvest with up to twelve passes until only the most perfect berries remain. Fermentation takes place directly in barriques, allowing fruit and wood to merge right from the start.

The name Glarea is of Rhaeto-Romanic origin and means gravel. The grapes for this mineral and very harmonious Chardonnay grow at an altitude of around 250 metres on the lower part of the Höllenbach debris cone in soils rich in limestone and gravel. Thanks to the low hillside location and the proximity to the valley floor, a unique microclimate is created here, characterised by considerable temperature fluctuations. During the day, the Glarea vineyards enjoy very warm temperatures, which are replaced by cool air masses in the late hours of the night and early morning, giving it a lovely tautness and freshness.

The artist Sara Di Giovanni translated the specifications into the form of a comic strip, as Lucca is considered one of the centres of European comic art.

"Burdigai" is Ligurian dialect and means shrubs of the Mediterranean maquis. From a small and isolated terrace facing west, surrounded by Mediterranean shrubs, comes this truly original Rosato, which should not actually exist. Because the grape variety is unknown, it is alternatively called "Franseise" because it apparently comes from the south of France and not even the owners know the exact origin and age, nor do they know who planted the vines there in the first place. Nevertheless, the vines have been cultivated and cared for over decades and at some point the family council decided to press an independent rosé from them.

With the Brolettino, Ca' dei Frati shows the powerful, mature side of Lugana. The Turbiana grapes come from older vines, whose deep roots give the fruit particular concentration. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months in barriques, which gives it additional structure and depth. Brilliant straw yellow colour with golden reflections in the glass. Ripe yellow fruit, pineapple, apricot and candied lemon on the nose, with fine vanilla and almond notes. Creamy and full-bodied on the palate, with an elegant woody flavour, fine minerality and harmoniously integrated acidity. The finish is long, smooth and delicately enveloping. Botti comes predominantly from the estate's own Bricco Botti parcel in Dogliani: south to south-west facing slopes, limestone-clay soils – a terroir that gives Nebbiolo tension and fine minerality. Red berries with raspberry and cherry on the nose, plus blueberry, violet and a hint of spice. Straightforward and elegant on the palate, with juicy fruit, fine-grained, round tannins and lively, clear acidity. Finely spicy and precise on the finish, with a cool, mineral flavour.
