From the heartland of Lagrein, the warm porphyry soils of Bolzano-Gries at 250 metres, comes this classic from the Bolzano winery. Formed in 2001 from the merger of the traditional Gries and St. Magdalena co-operatives, the Cantina is now one of the leading addresses for indigenous South Tyrolean grape varieties – not least thanks to the fine instinct of cellar master Stephan Filippi, who has been vinifying here for over three decades.

Perl has a rich ruby red colour with violet hues. The typical Lagrein bouquet unfolds on the nose: violets and dark wild berries, underpinned by subtle notes of cocoa and Mediterranean spice. The eight-month maturation in new barriques gives the wine structure without heaviness. Juicy and round on the palate, with velvety tannins and lively acidity that lend the full body an elegant freshness. A Lagrein that convincingly combines varietal typicity and modern cellar artistry – very clear and clean to the end with beautiful hints of wild berries that slowly fade away. SUPERIORE.DE
