“LUX VITIS” Toscana IGT 2016

LUX VITIS 2016 is the second and small-batch vintage of an exceptional, great wine. It comes from Cabernet Sauvignon vines over 12 years old and contains a small amount of Sangiovese. Deep dark ruby red, the bouquet has gingerbread spice, ripe black cherry and some smoke. On the palate it convinces compact and precise and clearly shows origin and grape variety. LUX VITIS will reveal its true treasure only with the years of maturity - the precise and outstanding 2016 vintage gives it fullness, subtle sweetness and concentration and in addition a freshness that will carry it into a long life. Darmagi Cabernet Sauvignon is a wonderful dark wine with a lot of varietal character and personality. Black fruits, espresso, grilled herbs and cassis in a rich and dense bouquet. Elegance and harmony on the palate, aromas of leather and a certain earthiness increase the complexity. The tannin already blends into the composition in a highly impressive way today and promises great things for the future. SUPERIORE.DE

“Vigna S. Francesco” Cabernet Sauvignon Sicilia DOC 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC

A wonderfully concentrated and elegant wine that is already drinking excellently. On the nose, the typical varietal bouquet with light balsamic notes. Pleasantly straight and fine on the palate, silky and full of harmony. SUPERIORE.DE

"A bouquet of black currants, minty herbs, tobacco and hints of camphor keeps you coming back to the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Vigna San Francesco over and over again. Its combination of velvety textures, ample weight, ripe black fruits and balancing acidity creates a harmonious impression of elegance. A coating of round tannin frames the experience, tapering off classically dry yet without slowing the 2017's momentum as it resonates on sweet violet florals and spice. There's so much pleasure to be found here already that it's hard to recommend cellaring, though a few years certainly won't hurt." Vinous

"Darmagi loves a warm vintage. The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Darmagi embraces the summer warmth like a happy sponge. This wine is faithfully true to the variety, with intensely dark fruit followed by dried cassis, exotic spice and green laurel leaf. There is a point of succulent sweetness in the mouth that is uniquely specific to this hot vintage. The wine is seamless and smooth in texture with solid structure on the close. The vines suffered from stripe disease (GLSD). This reduced the capacity of the plant's foliar system. Gaia Gaja tells me they were able to harvest from the healthy parts of the vines to make this beautiful wine." Robert Parker

Deep purple. Spicy Cabernet nose of herbs, fine blackberry notes, ripe cassis, some chocolate and wild raspberries. The pronounced fruit carries this monumental, single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon into the long final. The tannins provide a stable framework and give this magnificent red a long life. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark, bright garnet red. On the nose of ripe, lush currant and ripe raspberry, a hint of pickled cherry, bright spice. Fruit-sweet core with polished tannin, very savoury, drinks fine and even, slightly salty core, full of character, with persistence." Falstaff

Angelo's grandfather spoke of shame when he planted Cabernet Sauvignon on a vineyard. This word (Italian: Darmagi) finally gave the pure Cabernet its name. The result is anything but a disgrace: black fruits, espresso, grilled herbs and cassis in a rich and dense bouquet. Elegance and harmony on the palate, aromas of leather and a certain earthiness increase the complexity. The tannin already blends into the composition in a highly impressive way today and promises great things for the future. SUPERIORE.DE

"You'll find more dark fruit and more freshness here than in many of the other offerings from Gaja, with a dark, deep inky appearance. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Darmagi is a 100% expression of the grape, whereas past editions saw tiny parts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from a 2.5-hectare vineyard planted in 1978 directly under the town of Barbaresco, setting the stage for an elegant rendition of Cabernet Sauvignon with a fresh and contained style. The wine shows a nice balance between the extraction you get from the grape skins and the rich succulence you get from the pulp inside the berries. In the 2017, you taste more of the skins, and in the 2018, Gaia Gaja comments, you taste more of the pulp. The 2016 offers both, countering each other with precision. Whole grapes are pressed very gently." Robert Parker

    • "Sassicaia" Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2017

      “Sassicaia” Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2017

Enormously complex on the nose: we discover cassis, elderberries, heart-cherries and floral and mineral-earthy notes. In the mouth it is firm, precise and yet extremely elegant and balsamic, with a lot of juiciness and a very fine tannin, which is already irresistible in its young years. We have seldom enjoyed a wine that is so dense and full and at the same time seduces with a balance that makes it unique. Further bottle maturity is inevitably rewarded, although a further increase seems hardly imaginable. SUPERIORE.DE

"With this wine, more than 50 years ago, the success story of international grape varieties began in Bolgheri: the Incisa della Rocchetta family recognised the potential of the Bordeaux grape varieties and created this monolith of Italian wine culture. To this day, it is produced almost unchanged and mainly from Cabernet Franc: an appealing nose of fresh stone fruit, juniper and tobacco; the attack is polished, the tannins fine-grained and fresh, invigorating acidity, an extremely complex final on notes of red fruit and spices. Always one of the most elegant interpretations of the terroir." Vinum

"The 2017 Sassicaia is a fascinating wine that symbolizes a never-ending tug-of-war between vintner and vintage. The question is who comes out on top? In this case, my money is on the vintner. The 2017 vintage, characterized by scorching heat and drought across much of Italy, was not an easy one. This Sassicaia represents 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Cabernet Franc, with most of the fruit coming from the Tenuta's historic vineyards Castiglioncello, Quercione and Doccino. These plots are all located on the back hill of Bolgheri at slightly higher elevations where they enjoy cooler nighttime temperatures. Old vines also have a deeper root system that is key to braving dry and hot summers. You can absolutely taste those choices here thanks to the wine's aromatic profile that offers more variety-driven green highlights of wild berry, forest floor and bramble than I would have expected. With time, as the wine takes on more air in the glass, you get a hint of summer plum or cherry cough drop, and this, to my surprise, is the only subtle reminder of the hot vintage encountered. I found the aromas here to be authentically "Tuscan" in character, more so than other vintages, with balsamic and Mediterranean elements that borrow directly from the Sangiovese playbook. The decision to use more neutral oak favors the reduction of oxygen and softens the tannic profile. Although the wine does end with a hint of bitterness, it took on noticeably more volume and soft richness the longer I kept my sample in the glass." Robert Parker

"A taut, densely wrought red, with black currant, black cherry, iron, wild herb and spice flavors matched to the elegant frame and restrained character. Balanced and long, this has a distinctly Old World feel and looks set to unravel its complex facets slowly." Wine Spectator

"The 2017 Sassicaia is dark, sensual and rich, which is a good thing, as the tannins - the result of a warm, dry year in which phenolic ripening was difficult to fully reach - are also quite powerful. I tasted the 2017 from an approximate blend from barrel, where the wines are still aging in separate lots. It will be interesting to see where things end up once the wine is in bottle." Vinous

"The balance and beauty to this is impressive, offering sweet, ripe currants and flowers with some crushed-stone and dry-earth undertones. Full-bodied with soft, polished tannins and a long, creamy-textured finish. It’s polished, yet concentrated. Better after 2022, but already very seductive." James Suckling

"Aromas of exotic spice, baked plum and French oak mingle with camphor and blue flower on the nose. This boasts extraordinary elegance and freshness despite the hot vintage, delivering flavors of juicy Marasca cherry, spiced blueberry, tobacco and licorice. Velvety, fine-grained tannins provide support while coffee and crushed mint linger on the finish." Wine Enthusiast

Today, the 2017 is all about fruit richness and texture. Readers who prefer to see a full range of Cabernet aromatics should plan on cellaring the 2017 for at least a few years. Classic Super Tuscan made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, matured in French oak. In its very dense violet red, clear fruity notes and a highly enticing hint of candied lemons inspire. The taste is very harmonious, rich and powerful, the tannins perfectly integrated, the final beautifully persistent. SUPERIORE.DE

    • "Sassicaia" Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2018

      “Sassicaia” Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2018

In its 50th vintage, Sassicaia could hardly be more typical or distinctive. After a rather mixed spring, the weather then became so warm and dry that the Cabernet grapes were finally able to ripen optimally and make this flagship Bolgheri unmistakable in a remarkably pure and personality-strong appearance. Thus, the 2018 edition became a model of balance and finesse, gliding down the palate almost weightlessly and in a precisely proportioned frame.

Fascinating bouquet of cherries, flowers, some chocolate, wild herbs and plums. The overall package of this wine is equal to its jubilee, Sassicaia 2018, besides its undisputed class for decades, once again impressively represents its origin and rightly confirms that a separate DOC was even created for this wine icon. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby. Initially quite scented, then strangely closed a little in the glass. Subtle tones of cedar, vanilla and dried tobacco, with precision of fresh blackcurrant and a hint of black cherry. There's an underlying graphite and stone/mineral complexity too. Juicy palate - certainly good acidity here - and a comparatively moderate tannic load, both of which work in harmony to structure the wine. The tannins are fine grained, without the somewhat pinched texture I saw in the 2017 vintage, though will nevertheless benefit from a little cellaring to resolve to a silky finesse. At about three-quarter distance there's just a hint of wateriness, but then the delicate flavour does persist to a very good-length finish. This is certainly Sassicaia in the elegant and subtle mould v 2017's more powerful iteration. It would be interesting to evaluate these two side by side in a few years." Jancis Robinson

"Refined and complex, this red is all about finesse and restraint, starting out with floral and black currant flavors that build steadily on the palate, with olive, cedar, tobacco and spice notes adding detail as this lingers on the terrific finish. Needs five to seven years to fully emerge." Wine Spectator

"Star bright raspberry in colour, this has an elegance and a sense of lift right from the start - a beautifully balanced, finessed and classical Sassicaia. The freshly cut and dried herbs of great Italian wines reveals themselves through the slow build up across the palate, along with gentle tobacco and liquorice notes. This is juicy and elegant, showing passion fruit and raspberry with an undertow of complexity. One to savour." Decanter

"Beautiful, serene aromas of sweet berries and wild flowers with light lavender and fresh sage. Really aromatic. A firm, silky red with medium to full body and ultra fine tannins that are polished and beautiful. Lots of blue fruit and blackberries follow through to a beautiful finish. Really tight and polished. Bright acidity. Will be lovely to drink in a few years. The 2017 and 2016 were about power, but the 2018 is about finesse and subtlety." James Suckling

"The 2018 Sassicaia is fabulous. Bright and beautifully poised, the 2018 opens with brilliant aromatics that make a strong first impression. Delicate and light on its feet, the 2018 is a regal wine that is going to need a number of years to come into its own. Sassicaia is the most finessed of Bolgheri's top wines. That is very much the case in 2018 as well. I loved it." Vinous

"This is a classic vintage of an Italian icon now celebrating its 50th vintage. The Tenuta San Guido 2018 Bolgheri Sassicaia lays out a familiar blueprint that borrows from the proven track record of this landmark estate that extends into the hills just beyond the Tyrrhenian shores of Tuscany. This vintage is crystalline and pure in its delivery, and if you are familiar with previous editions, it is impossible to mistake this wine for anything but Sassicaia. The palate is lifted and bright, the finish is polished and long, and the wine skips over any heaviness on the mid-palate. The bouquet is especially intriguing with a very lively plummy fruit element that is enhanced by baker's chocolate, pepper spice, iron ore, caramel and pie crust. There is also a green character that adds positively to the bouquet with aniseed, tea leaf, soya, menthol rub and black olive. The fruit maturity is spot-on with no elements that feel over or underripe. Overall, the 2018 Sassicaia weighs in with a svelte frame and long persistence. Moreover, it is distinguished by the archetypal elegance and pedigree of the classic vintages of the past. This new release gives you much pleasure to await." Robert Parker

"All about radiance and finesse, this iconic Tuscan red has beguiling aromas of cedar, wild red berry, menthol and pipe tobacco that mingle with fragrant blue flowers. Made with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, the focused, elegantly structured palate is vibrant and savory, delivering cassis, orange zest, licorice and a hint of coffee framed in taut, polished tannins. Bright acidity keeps it energized and balanced." Wine Enthusiast

"When making a great wine, the primary goal is to emphasise, perfect and seal in a bottle all the extraordinary characteristics of the area: from the different soils to the microclimate, from the vibrant power of the Mediterranean maquis to the fresh sea breeze." Stanislaus Turnauer (winery owner)

Actually, the single vineyard of just 1 hectare is unique, as it only comprises a small hilltop in the shape of a fan (Italian: ventaglio). The grapes from here have always represented the top of the winery's production and so it was decided to vinify them separately from the 2015 vintage onwards - and the new top wine "Ventaglio" was born.

Due to the curious location and geographical orientation of the vineyard in all directions, there are morning grapes, midday grapes and evening grapes here and they represent the respective site-specific microclimate in an impressive way. Likewise, through the subsequent joint processing, they give their differences in aromatic development, maturity and freshness as a total work of art in this exceptional wine, in which every nuance of the terroir, no matter how small, is expressed correctly and in a balanced manner.

Complex and with a noble body, balanced by an undeniable elegance, Ventaglio appears as the overall expression of Cabernet Franc, which grows particularly well in the Bolgheri area. This first site wine of the Tenuta, symbol of decades of experience in single-varietal winemaking, is vinified only in special vintages in an extremely limited number of bottles.

"Very dense ruby with violet glints. Opens with emphatic spicy notes of cedar and juniper, some tar and liquorice, then lots of dark berry fruit. Very powerful on the palate, opens with dense tannin in many layers, very polished on the final, lots of dark berry fruit in the finish." Falstaff

"This is the inaugural vintage of Tenuta Argentiera's newest monovarietal wine, a Cabernet from a stunning vineyard that is shaped like a fan ("ventaglio" in Italian) positioned around a solitary oak tree that stands tall against a stunning view of blue seas and umbrella trees. The 2015 Ventaglio embraces that wide panorama with a span of aromas and black fruit flavors. Blackberry and plum cede to smoke, campfire ash, crushed mineral and wet river stone. Those delicate earthy tones add pretty framing to the opulent darkness found inside." Robert Parker

"An absolutely beautiful red with crushed-blackberry, mushroom, fresh-herb and chocolate character. It's full-bodied, balanced and creamy with super polished and ripe tannins and a fantastic finish of beautiful fruit. Love the precision and focus. 85% cabernet franc and 15% cabernet sauvignon. Already beautiful, yet will be fantastic in four or five years." James Suckling

    • "Campo di Magnacosta" Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2018
3 Bottles in OWC

“Campo di Magnacosta” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2018 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Just 2,100 bottles of this 1.5 ha single vineyard Cabernet Franc "Campo di Magnacosta" (a former riverbed with mainly clay, gravel and crushed stone soil) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. The vines were planted in the mid-1990s and come from Pomerol. In terms of aromatic intensity, Magnacosta is probably the most sensually elegant representative of the house's three great site cabernets. It has great straightness, but somewhat less power and intensity. It subtly combines black fruit aromas with spicy notes, tar and antique leather. It is already silky and elegant and will certainly gain in finesse over the years. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep dark ruby. Very compact nose with lots of rich cassis fruit, ripe blackberries, plus some tobacco. Lots of ripe berry fruit on the palate, opens with fine, slightly grippy tannin, earthy notes on the final." Falstaff

"The 2018 Campo di Magnacosta is ample and expressive, with a real sense of textural breadth that distinguishes it in this range. Super-ripe dark cherry, gravel, mint, spice and leather tones give the 2018 striking complexity. Incisive tannins need time to soften. Readers who can wait will be rewarded with a fabulous, deeply expressive wine. The 2018 Campo di Magnacosta is 100% Cabernet Franc from a site on an old river bed." Vinous

"Campo di Magnacosta is the lightest and more feminine Cabernet Franc of Trinoro's cru (Magnacosta, Camagi, Tenaglia) based on this grape variety. It is a 1.5 hectare parcel of river gravel and silt on the valley's bottom, where an old stream ate into a hill (hence the name: magna is eat and costa is hillside). It was planted over 20 years ago with cuttings from a vineyard in Pomerol. Intense and elegant on the nose with an intriguing restrained brumble fruit, dried eucalyptus and spices, it combines great fruit definition and creamy palate with tight-knit tannins and lively acidity in background. Warm on the finish, yet well balanced." Decanter

"This is one of three single-vineyard expressions made by the talented Mr. Franchetti. The Tenuta di Trinoro 2018 Campo di Magnacosta (with only 1,950 bottles released) is powerful and complex. Campo di Magnacosta is also very elegant, showing a slow and careful approach that takes on volume and latitude as the wine opens aromatically. Give it time. Black fruit, Spanish cedar, charred meat, crushed river stone and exotic spice take center stage. The mouthfeel offers a lot of texture and succulence, but the finish is linear and structured. The wine's length ultimately translates into elegance." Robert Parker

“Cor Römigberg” Cabernet Sauvignon Alto Adige DOC 2016 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC

Cherry red Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Petit Verdot, the complex bouquet reminds of blackcurrants; in addition, mint aromas and floral notes are interwoven with the pleasantly balanced wood note. Powerful and dense on the palate; the fine tannins are harmoniously integrated. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep dark ruby with a black core. Opened with notes of cabbage florets, lots of tobacco, some beetroot, lots of cassis. Full and dense tannin, builds up well, dark berry fruit and refreshing mint in the final." Falstaff

"Here's a sharp, tight and mid-weight expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. From the far north of Italy, the Alois Lageder 2016 Alto Adige Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Römigberg is an extremely elegant and silky expression of a grape that is often pushed to more dramatic and concentrated effect. Not here. The Cor Römigberg focuses on elegance and balance instead, with dark fruit, blackberry, mountain herbs and blue flowers. There are light touches of crushed limestone and spice as well." Robert Parker

"Inky ruby. Very big aromas and flavors of dark berries are nicely complicated by graphite, coffee reduction, minerals and tar. Not at all marred by green or overripe notes, this very refined Cab boasts a serious, austere personality with plenty of fruit lurking in the background. Will likely improve with a couple more years in the cellar. Day after day, the 2016 vintage is proving it was a stellar one for the region’s reds." Vinous

"Really gorgeous cabernet character on the nose with sweet tobacco, sage, tree bark and black truffles to the currants and red fruit. Full-bodied with tight fruit, chewy tannins and walnut and steely undertones that suggest minerals and slate." James Suckling

    • "L'Alberello" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017 (BIO)
6 Bottles in OWC

“L’Alberello” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC

L'Alberello is a beautiful Bolgheri Superiore made primarily from Cabernet. Starts fresh and vehement with warm, dark fruit aromas, then opens up further with a bouquet of herbs, coffee and a pinch of pepper. Remarkably polished and juicy on the palate, everything is in balance, silky and very charismatic on the long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, sparkling ruby with a slight garnet tongue. Intense and clearly marked nose, lush with elderberries and blueberries, lots of tobacco, some cardamom, shows nice game. Round and lush on the attack, opens with fine-mesh tannin, lots of juicy fruit." Falstaff

"Aromas of spicy blackcurrants and berries. Black cardamom here, too. Full-bodied and layered with compact fruit and very fine-grained tannins. Nice fruit and spice drive through the long finish. This needs a bit of time to come together, but delicious now." James Suckling

"The 2017 Bolgheri Superiore L’Alberello is gracious, silky and wonderfully nuanced. In 2017, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot is all class. Crushed rose petal, mint, sweet red berry and cinnamon all grace this mid-weight, beautifully perfumed Bolgheri red." Vinous

"The 2017 Bolgheri Superiore l'Alberello shows a fine and seamless nature that defies this challenging vintage. The vines are planted according to a special spacing method called "settonce" in Italian. This means that each alberello plant (or head pruned vine) is equidistant to the next. In theory, this brings more light and favors even ripening. Indeed, "even" is the word that first comes to mind. The intensity and the dark fruit aromas are nicely spaced out and level." Robert Parker

"Alberello is the classic Bordeaux blend of Grattamacco in Bolgheri, sourced from a 2ha vineyard planted with bush vines ('alberello'). Clay and earth aromas are joined by intense floral notes of violet. It's a muscular wine, large and powerful, smooth and just chalky on the finish, with an amazing mineral vibrancy." Decanter

    • "Alzero" Cabernet Veneto IGP 2011

      “Alzero” Cabernet Veneto IGP 2011

100% Cabernet Franc according to the traditional Ripasso method! This wine was created by Giuseppe in honor of his grandmother Franca and has a definite Quintarelli style. Dark ruby with brownish highlights. On the nose, sweet aromas of dark red fruits, damp forest floor and hints of noble winter truffle. On the palate, highly concentrated, punchy and with beautiful suppleness and finely granulated tannin. Its dense body and immense complexity opens up depth, aromatic diversity with each successive sip, and a finely sweet Amarone style to boot! No playful experiment of a quality fanatic, but a serious, finesse-rich wine with a clear signature and terrificaging potential! SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2011 Alzero Cabernet is a bit backward today, displaying mocha-infused black and red currants offset by hints of sour citrus and animal musk, plus a dusty floral and incense component that is not quite ready to come into the foreground. It’s velvety in feel yet medium in body, showing tart wild berries and exotic inner spices, all framed by a core of vibrant acidity. For all of its primary intensity, the 2011 maintains balance, leaving a glycerol-like coating of tart cherry and blackberry under an air of tobacco and sweet herbs. There’s a lot of immediate pleasure to be found within the 2011, but it should also excel over medium-term cellaring." Vinous

    • "Didacus" Cabernet Franc Sicilia Menfi DOC 2016
6 Bottles in OWC

“Didacus” Cabernet Franc Sicilia Menfi DOC 2016 · 6 Bottles in OWC

The first vintage of the red counterpart to the Didacus Chardonnay impressively reflects the vision of the Planeta family: elegance and tradition, family and future. This 100% Cabernet Franc comes from vines over 20 years old that were still planted by Diego Planeta, and it is simply stunning, delicious and unforgettable. Superb aromas of sensual dark fruits, some leather and tobacco. Explosive, penetrating and powerful on the palate, but at the same time seamless and silky smooth. The tannin management is excellent. This is a wine to keep in the cellar - assuming some self-control. SUPERIORE.DE

"From a classic vintage and a long growing season, this Cabernet Franc is slow to open and reveals a long range of aromas to coincide with various intervals one hour after the bottle is open, six hours later and even two days later. Give it time. Didacus reveals textbook varietal purity with dark fruit, bramble, white pepper, crushed stone and rosemary essence. There is little sweetness to the fruit, and the wine's personality embraces a more tonic or focused style with inner tension and verve. It focuses on length, not textural width. Compared to the Chardonnay, which is full-on Mediterranean with a kaleidoscope of bold fruit intensity, this wine is more reserved and timid. It adopts the silent, noble and insular side of the Sicilian persona and is a wine that succinctly relays its intention and uses few words to do so." Robert Parker

"The finest dark chocolate, roses, cedar, sage, dried red currants, spiced orange peel; you can go on and on with a new note each time you tilt the glass as the 2016 Cabernet Franc Didacus slowly blossoms. Its textures are like weighted velvet, yet the expression is medium-bodied in feel, with a polished display of black fruits lifted by vibrant acids as hints of white pepper give way to dark inner florals. This is still youthfully dense, leaving a fine coating of tannin under a savory display of dried plums and blackberries. There's a sheen to the 2016 that allows for an early peek into its evolution today, yet the cellar potential is remarkably high as well." Vinous

“Campo Lusso” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC

Campo Lusso, a Cabernet Sauvignon from the vineyard of the same name, is another Grand Cru from Petrolo. The small location covers only half a hectare under the tower of Galatrona. The natural terrace offers extremely favourable soil and climatic conditions. Only about 1,300 bottles of this spectacular drop can be produced per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE

"The full-bodied 2016 Campo Lusso is absolutely gorgeous. This is a dark and generous expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that is grounded and centered, but so intense all the while. The bouquet is layered and rich with dark fruit, spice, leather, tar and chocolate. Campo Lusso is a beautiful expression of this French grape from Tuscany. The tannins are velvety and impeccably integrated. First produced in 2004, this wine sees fruit sourced from an isolated vineyard spot located just under the Galatrona tower (at 500 meters above sea level). Farmers referred to this site as the "campo lusso," or luxury site, because of the ideal soil composition of rocky limestone. This vintage takes this beautiful wine a giant step forward in terms of general quality and elegance, and this is due in part to the advancing age of the vines." Robert Parker

“Collezione Privata” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2015 · 6 Bottles in OWC

There are only a few thousand bottles of this private collection. Impressive, dynamic and radiant. Aromas of dark berries, cloves, menthol, tar, liquorice, herbs and grilled meat, the wood tones very restrained. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine of elegance and finesse that shows the effects of rain during harvest in its decidedly mid-weight, lithe construction. Even so, the 2015 offers lovely aromatic presence and persistence. Grilled herbs, crème de cassis, licorice, violet, plum, spice and licorice all develop, but the 2015 remains decidedly delicate for this bottling. My impression is that it will age more on its freshness rather than on its concentration." Vinous

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata opens to an enriched appearance with round fruit and loads of deep intensity. What is remarkable about this Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon is that it shows none of the greenness or tightness often associated with the grape. This warm and sunny vintage has ironed out any wrinkles and contributes to the loose, rich fabric of the wine. This wine shows lushness and balanced integration. It's a lovely expression whose berry and forest endnotes make it perfect for a rosemary and garlic roasted lamb. Only 6,000 bottles were made." Robert Parker

"Matured wines can be compared to a person who impresses not by strength but by the wisdom of age. These wines have a tremendous personality, a very special aura." Alois Lageder

Every year since the 1995 vintage, the Lageder family has set aside a small number of their masterpieces to demonstrate the impressive development and great potential of their wines. The choice of the 2020 Rarum Edition was made for six special vintages of the top COR Römigberg cabernet, which we are now able to present to you in a high-quality wooden box with the vintages 1996, 1998, 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2010.

(2006) "Sparkling, dense ruby. Inviting, multi-layered nose, reveals notes of tobacco, spicy herbs and much darker berry fruit. On the palate, firm and substantial in its approach and development, builds up richly, opens up with dense, fine-meshed tannin, increases steadily in the rear, clear fruit, very rich pressure in the final ". Falstaff

(2006) "The 2006 Cor Romigberg is impressive on this vintage. Dark red berries, plums, grilled herbs, licorice and cedar are some of the many notes that flow from this deeply expressive, totally convincing wine. The 2006 boasts gorgeous depth, power and finesse. Mocha, new leather and tar are some of the notes that flesh out on the finish, adding further layers of complexity. Cor Romigberg is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a dollop of Petit Verdot from a vineyard in Caldaro, on the southern side of Alto Adige." Robert Parker

(2010) Cherry red Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Petit Verdot, the complex bouquet is reminiscent of blackcurrants; in addition, mint aromas and floral notes are interwoven with the pleasantly balanced wood note. Powerful and dense on the palate; the fine tannins are harmoniously integrated. SUPERIORE.DE

Maturation: maceration for about 17 days in stainless steel tanks. After biological acid reduction, the young wine was filled into barriques (Alliers and Nevers, 2/3 new) and matured in them for between 17 and 20 months, depending on the vintage.

“Collezione Privata” Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT 2016 · 6 Bottles in OWC

There are only a few thousand bottles of this private collection. Impressive, dynamic and radiant. Aromas of dark berries, cloves, menthol, tar, liquorice, herbs and grilled meat, the wood tones very reserved. SUPERIORE.DE

"The Isole e Olena 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata opens nicely to show rich but balanced concentration and generous aromas of dark fruit, plum, exotic spice and fragrant cedar wood. I tasted the wine at two intervals in time, once when the bottle was first opened and a second time the following day from the same bottle. The wine opens generously, showing a fluid and steady evolution of aromas that starts with some tart fruit and forest floor, later to develop into the softer and sensuous flavors I have described above. The tannins are delicately woven into the greater fiber of the wine to offer support without any sharpness. The entire drinking experience is seamless and smooth." Robert Parker

"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is among the finest Cabernet Sauvignons in Italy. High altitude sites in Barberino yield a distinctly mid-weight, elegant, savory Cabernet that is all about reserve. Dark plum, espresso, licorice, menthol and sage start to emerge with a bit of air, but the 2016 is a wine that demands cellaring. Over the years, I have had the good fortune to taste every vintage of the Isole e Olena Cabernet. It is one of the great under the radar wines of Tuscany. The 2016 takes its place with the very finest editions." Vinous

“Campo Lusso” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2018 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC

The small vineyard is located at an altitude of 500 m above the Galatrona Tower and offers the best conditions for the cultivation of the French grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon. Due to the limestone subsoil, this site is also called a luxury site (campo lusso). Intense and generous bouquet of dark fruits, leather and chocolate. On the palate complex and deep, very focused and with increasing aeration very elegant and aristocratic. A complete red that will not only delight the Cabernet lover. Only about 1,300 bottles of this spectacular drop can be produced per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE

"Wow. Black currants, oyster shell, lavender and wet earth. Some mushrooms, too. It changes all the time. Full-bodied with chewy, polished tannins that are extremely creamy in texture. Beautiful fruit at the finish. From organically grown grapes. Needs three to four years to come together, but a beauty already. Try after 2024." James Suckling

"Luca Sanjust has a beautiful pocket of organic Cabernet Sauvignon vines that are reached by jeep on the tiny dirt road that goes from his villa to the ancient stone tower at the apex of the Petrolo property. The 2018 Val d'Arno di Sopra Cabernet Sauvignon Campo Lusso (now part of the DOC appellation) is a stunning wine, offering richness, intensity, power and impeccable balance. The wine is bursting with dark fruit, plum and blackberry, but it also offers ample tobacco and Indian spices. The tannins are young and I would suggest another few years of cellar aging before you bring this bottle out. When you do, make sure to serve it with an important steak dinner. This wine hits all your sensorial pleasure points. Dare I say it? Campo Lusso is gaining on Galatrona as my vino del cuore (the wine of my heart)." Robert Parker

“LUX VITIS” Toscana IGT 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC

• "Darmagi" Rosso Langhe DOP 2016
6 Bottles in OWC

“Darmagi” Rosso Langhe DOP 2016 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Angelo's grandfather spoke of shame when he planted Cabernet Sauvignon on a vineyard. This word (ital.: darmagi) finally gave the pure Cabernet its name.
