A castle ruin towers above the entrance to the village of Terlan. First mentioned in records in 1206. Much has changed since then – the languages, the borders, the owners. What has remained are the porphyry rock, the northern foehn wind and the determination to produce wine here that does justice to the village. Nova Domus – New House. Founded in 1893 by 24 winegrowers, with the simple aim of achieving more together than they could alone.

What they created back then is now Terlan's flagship white wine – a cuvée comprising 70% Pinot Blanc, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Sauvignon Blanc, the individual components of which are distributed across the different altitudes with the same precision as the notes in a well-composed score. The Pinot Blanc comes from altitudes of 500–600 metres, where the downslope winds keep temperatures cool even in the height of summer. The Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc come from 300–350 metres, where the volcanic quartz porphyry unleashes its full mineral energy. Twelve months on the fine lees, followed by two years of total maturation before release. Rudi Kofler describes this wine as one that can only fully realise its potential after many years.

An intense, sparkling yellow-green colour. On the nose: aniseed, mint and sage, alongside apricot, mandarin and passion fruit – herbs and fruit in perfect harmony. On the palate, it is both powerful and delicate, with a mineral and salty edge and a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
