A wine with character and a distinct identity: the grapes come from the renowned Scarrone vineyard, situated directly below Castiglione Falletto – a warm south-easterly exposure with calcareous marl soils. Vietti cultivates the vineyard according to organic principles (uncertified) and vinifies the Vigna Scarrone with respect for the grape variety and terroir. Temperature-controlled maceration is followed by ageing in large casks and used barriques.

In the glass, it displays a deep purplish-red colour with a violet core. The bouquet is complex and well-defined: black cherry, blackberry and dried plum blend with notes of violet, liquorice, pipe tobacco and a hint of cedar. On the palate, the wine reveals itself to be multi-layered and focused: powerful yet not overpowering, with juicy fruit, lively acidity and tightly structured tannins. The texture is supple, the spice precise, and the finish long and elegant with a delicate mineral aftertaste. A great Barbera that combines depth and finesse in a remarkable way – exemplifying Vietti's ability to produce terroir-driven red wines of the highest calibre. SUPERIORE.DE
