The relatively new Colli Tortonesi DOC is probably still one of Piedmont's least well-known wine-growing regions. The term "Derthona" is already being used as an umbrella term. It is the old name for Tortona, a small town at the heart of the DOC. The indigenous white grape variety Timorasso led a rather obscure existence for many years, but today some winemakers are already calling it the "white Barolo". This is due, on the one hand, to its great complexity and finesse, and on the other, to the wines' outstanding ageing potential. Furthermore, the grapes often vary in size and ripeness at harvest, which makes selection a major challenge, just as it is with the great Nebbiolo crus.

Pale yellow, tending towards golden as it matures in the bottle. The nose is very fresh, floral and fruity, with hints of candied orange, petrol and honey. On the palate, it is rich and deep, with an almost Riesling-like minerality and acid wire delicate acid wire. As it breathes, it becomes increasingly multi-layered, complex and reveals a surprising depth that hints at the grape variety's great potential. Not a run-of-the-mill wine, but all the more compelling for those wine lovers who expect character, personality and a high degree of individuality from a white wine.
