“Nardo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020
The uncompromisingly selected grapes come from the oldest vineyards of the winery. Dark and powerful, yet highly elegant aromas of wild cherries, spices, liquorice, cassis and leather with exceptional balance and purity. A radiant, cosmopolitan Italian. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Nardo is a wild, powerful wine. Dark red fruit, menthol, licorice, spice, game, grilled herbs, earthiness and tobacco add to an impression of rusticity. The 2020 is quite the bruiser. " Vinous
"Powerful ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Presents itself in the nose with intense notes of plums, pickled cherries and some tobacco. Gripping, gripping tannin, lots of sweet fruit melt, still a little rough on the final." Falstaff
"This wine has a dark core of black fruits with grilled rosemary or curry leaves in the background. There are also elegant mineral tones reminiscent of pencil shavings or even a hint of rusty iron. The palate is dry and quite firm with fruit and oak tannins." Wine Advocate
"A wine with beautiful, crisp purple fruits, fresh raspberries and citrus fruits. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a crisp and lively finish. Lots of fruit on the finish. Needs a little time to open up but is already refreshing and delicious." James Suckling

“Troy” Chardonnay Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2019
Troy is not a normal Chardonnay. Rather, it is the archetype of a Chardonnay, as Wolfgang Klotz, managing director of probably the most successful winegrowers' cooperative in South Tyrol, sees it. The grapes come from two selected vineyards in Söll, near Tramin. Not only does a Mediterranean climate prevail there, but also quite cold fall winds at night determine the vegetation. Both factors ensure optimal development of the plants and fruits. The berries are handpicked piece by piece and it is therefore clear to every wine connoisseur that this is an absolutely prestigious project of the cooperative. It is therefore not surprising that only 3,000 bottles of this vintage are sold in selected specialist shops and top restaurants.
Intense straw to golden yellow. Tropical fruit on the nose, a hint of camomile and mint, then fine toasted notes and a subtle nutty touch. On the palate, you can almost taste the proximity of the mountains, its clarity, freshness and intensity: exotic notes of yellow ripe fruit, then again some nuttiness and in addition again a beguiling liveliness and minerality, which ends in an equally long final. Chardonnay can be like this, chapeau! SUPERIORE.DE
"Very typical, smoky underpinned Chardonnay fragrance with yellow stone fruit, peach, delicate exoticism with pineapple and mango, supported by a smoky-nutty backdrop in which roasted hazelnuts and fine caramel bring Burgundy to mind again. Dense and full-bodied in the mouth with a creamy texture reminiscent of salty butter, wonderfully contrasted by the spicy-salty freshness that increasingly sets the tone." Weinwisser
"The 2019 Chardonnay Riserva Troy rises from the glass with enriching notes of hazelnut and custard before giving way to white flowers and hints of opal apple. This wine is elegant from start to finish, with ripe orchard fruits and sweet spices perfectly contrasted by salty minerality. The Troy is long and lightly textured, leaving an aftertaste of raw almonds and candied limes. Although a little hedonistic on the nose, the balance of this wine is a feast for the eyes. Cellaring should help integrate some of the 2019 oak flavours." Vinous
"One of the winery's top wines, the Cantina Tramin 2019 Alto Adige Chardonnay Riserva Troy opens a little slowly. It has had a long maturation process: 11 months in barrique and 22 months in stainless steel. With a little coaxing, this alpine white wine finally blossoms, showing orchard fruit, pie crust and baked apple." Wine Advocate
"Peach, pie crust, pineapple and mango crumble on the nose with hazelnuts and salted caramel. Full-bodied with a lovely buttery texture. Long and lush, yet with lemony freshness and saline undertones." James Suckling
"Brilliant yellow apples and lemon zest with a lurking wealth of toasted vanilla and lush, chalky minerality keeping the structure in check. Long and impressive." Decanter
"Intense bright straw yellow with green nuances. Opens with fresh notes of mint, then lots of clear fruit, pineapple and mango, some beeswax, very inviting. Extremely juicy and present on the palate, shows lots of tropical fruit, very appealing, well-integrated acidity gives tension, long finish." Falstaff
"One of the "untouchable" products from the Termeno winery's research. A lively Chardonnay, with a faceted nose, yellow plum, then rosemary, lemongrass and ginger. Notes of white pepper on the finish. The palate is tasty, with officinal fruity return and spicy memories." Luca Gardini

The rare Riserva Vorberg from Pinot Bianco is open, elegant and expressive. Brilliant straw yellow in colour with light green tones. Generous bouquet with delicately nuanced flavours of peach, apricot and spices. Cool, deep and with all the advantages of the grape variety on the palate. A noble Pinot Blanc with plenty of persistence and potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"An elegant, fine white wine with dense flavours of yellow plum, melon rind, chamomile and lemon wax. With a slightly chalky texture and mouth-watering acidity, it is long and supple, with grapefruit peel, ground pink pepper and mineral notes on the finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2021 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg is youthfully coiled, as an airy blend of wild herbs and dried flowers gives way to young peach and apricot. This is seamlessly silky and serene on the palate, nearly oily in feel, with brisk acidity to balance and depths of ripe orchard fruits and mineral tones that saturate. The balance is perfect, lightly tannic and full of tension with a lemony concentration that puckers the cheeks as minty herbal tones fade. Green apple notes add a crunchy sensation toward the close. This fantastic rendition of Vorberg will thrive in a cold cellar." Vinous
"Vorberg is one of the world's great Pinot Blancs and opens with a fragrant aroma of ripe pear, green apple and a hint of almond. On the palate, it is lively with an interplay of citrus and stone fruit, carried by a refreshing acidity. The wine culminates in a structured finish that covers the whole range of cuisine." “Amore e Magia” Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019
The grapes for Le Ripi's top Brunello come from a 4-hectare vineyard near Castelnuovo dell'Abate on the eastern side of Montalcino, not far from the Lupi e Sirene vineyard. Amore e Magia first impresses with its beauty in the glass: deep ruby with violet, fuchsia-coloured accents. The nose then reveals a very clear, concise bouquet with a disarming openness that is immediately captivating. We discover candied fruit, raspberries, roasted nuts and Christmas spices, then notes of leather. The first impression on the palate is rather silky and floral, the fine salinity and wonderfully integrated acidity provide vital freshness and the solidly woven tannin builds up with energy and flanks every sip right through to the multi-layered final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Noble, elegant nose, delicate flavours of raspberries, dried tomatoes, undergrowth, ripe cherry on the finish. Very elegant in the mouth, with polished tannins and creamy fruit, well-balanced, keeps coming back, beautiful length and precision, good pressure and fine salt on the finish." Falstaff
"Showing maturing notes of mushroom and woodsy underbrush, this red also reveals ripe cherry, strawberry, almond, iron and sanguine flavors. Firm enough yet approachable, with fine overall balance and length." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Amore e Magia reminds me more of an exotic herbal tea than wine, as notes of incense and jasmine give way to spiced blood orange. This wine soothes with its silky texture and cool acidity. Ripe wild berries flatter the palate, contrasted by a hint of orange towards the end. On the finish, the tannins are grippy and edgy, providing a classic dry feel, while the tart cranberries fade beneath the rosy florals within. Patience is needed; this is a tight, young Brunello that shows off its southern roots." Vinous

“Campo di Magnacosta” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2019
Just 2,100 bottles of this 1.5 ha single vineyard Cabernet Franc "Campo di Magnacosta" (a former riverbed with mainly clay, gravel and crushed stone soil) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. The vines were planted in the mid-1990s and come from Pomerol. In terms of aromatic intensity, Magnacosta is probably the most sensually elegant representative of the house's three great site cabernets. It has great straightness, but somewhat less power and intensity. It subtly combines black fruit aromas with spicy notes, tar and antique leather. It is already silky and elegant and will certainly gain in finesse over the years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Restrained but soon very elegant attack with aromas of dark berries and herbs; linear on the palate with fine-grained tannin and perfectly integrated acidity, powerful yet elegant finish." Vinum
"Bay leaf, tomato leaf and thyme aromas add a savory element to the black currant and black cherry fruit, with lively acidity and compact tannins providing support as this winds down on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Campo di Magnacosta comes as very tightly wound. Bright red/purplish toned fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper lend notable and salivating energy to this decidedly focused Franc. It's amazing to see just how expressive these wines are with regards to site and vintage. Let's see if this fleshes out a bit more with time." Vinous
"If you love Cabernet Franc, please direct your attention here. The Tenuta di Trinoro 2019 Campo di Magnacosta is a study in the intensity, power and depth of this grape. Campo di Magnacosta was the first of several single-vineyard parcels planted to this variety. The first bottling from this 1.5-hectare site was made in 2011, and this year a mere 2,122 bottles were released. The wine is profound and pure with luscious dark fruit, sharp minerality, spice and etched contours. You get that distinctive hint of slate or pencil shaving that is especially characteristic of this Cabernet Franc. Its full-bodied texture wraps smoothly over the palate, and the tannins have been expertly integrated." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino “Vecchie Vigne” DOCG 2016
Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne is every year a prime example of the high class of the appellation around the small village of Montalcino. But what can one say about this wine when it is young? It has the potential to be one of the best Brunellos of this outstanding vintage, but it is too early to sum up its true class. Only this much: Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne has everything that reveals the power, size and finesse of this vintage. Aromas of cherry, forest floor, leather, spices, tobacco and plenty of other primary notes of deep black fruit. Explosive, full-bodied and still very closed on the palate, the tannins firm and even stubborn at first - but you can feel the existing depth and balance with every sip, which will make it one of the most convincing and at the same time charming drops of the appellation with further bottle ageing. Impressive, too, is the power and structure that builds up in waves and that it will reveal with each further year of patience and maturity. SUPERIORE.DE
"Siro Pacenti's wines always offer a full concert. This one seems a bit more restrained at first, but opens up clearly with air. Complex aroma with ripe red and blue plums, blueberries, hibiscus, blue-purple flowers (lavender, iris), dark chocolate, behind it many balsamic nuances. Enormously powerful and exciting, very intense and full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and vibrant freshness." Weinwisser
"Giancarlo Pacenti's selection from old vines is also convincing in 2016: multi-layered bouquet of wild berries, black pepper and violets; polished in the mouth, with plenty of richness and crisp acidity, the tannins finely meshed and youthful, ending on notes of red berries, flowers and tobacco. Convincing, but should still mature." Vinum
"Sparkling, dark ruby red. Lots of dark berry fruit, mulberries, fresh dark plums, some cardamom. On the palate a lot of compact, grippy tannin, opens up in many layers, gripping and sturdy, grippy tannin forms the backbone of the wine, then drying wood in the final." Falstaff
"This wine opens to a nicely saturated appearance with dark berry, spice and tobacco. The wine is structured and firm, owning its tannins to both the fruit and the barrique. I do find the tannins to be astringent at this young stage, so I would hold off from opening this release for a long while. Like many of the other producers in Montalcino, Giancarlo Pacenti has captured the linearity and focus of the vintage, but his house style ultimately leaves a bigger mark on the fruit." Wine Advocate
"Broad and dense, this red reveals power behind the plum, cherry, earth, leather and underbrush flavors. Will need time to shed its beefy tannins, but the fruit keeps pace on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"Menthol, new leather, French oak and spiced blueberry aromas come to the forefront. Full bodied and concentrated, the firmly structured palate delivers dried cherry, grilled Porcini, vanilla and licorice set against assertive, close-grained tannins before closing on a coconut note. Give it time to flesh out in the bottle." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne from Siro Pacenti is dark and youthfully folded in upon itself. This pulls you closer to the glass, as it slowly reveals a nuanced display of olive-tinged blackberry and plum, with hints of mocha, balsamic spice and tanned leather. It's deeply textural, with velvety waves of ripe black fruits laced with tactile minerals, propelled by vibrant acids which carry its medium-bodied weight with ease. Youthfully dense, poised and geared for the long term, the 2016 Vecchie Vigne will require a good amount of cellaring to show all of its charms. Hints of licorice and violet florals echo throughout the long and structured finale." Vinous
"Such wonderful opulence and beauty. The nose shows dried flowers and minerals with blackberries and black cherries. Purity is the word. Full-bodied with incredible depth and structure and polished, silky tannins that envelop your palate. The length is really impressive." James Suckling

“Grandi Annate” Sangiovese Toscana IGT 2016 (BIO)
Starting with the 2015 vintage, Avignonesi has decided to market the flagship Nobile Grandi Annate "only" as Sangiovese IGT. The reason for this is that the Consortium Vino Nobile DOCG imposes rigid requirements with regard to maturation vessels and ageing time, which they would like to deviate from in favour of the style and quality of the wine. Vinified only in the best vintages and aged in 20% new and 80% used barriques, Grandi Annate is for us one of the best single-varietal Sangiovese of the region.
Sangiovese Grandi Annate from the top Tuscan year 2016 impresses with its freshness and enveloping notes of wild strawberries and liquorice. The palate is punchy, rich and luxurious, with a delicate vanilla note and a brilliant, complex finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, brightening garnet red. Opens with slightly chocolaty notes, juicy cherry and raspberry. Shows well-developed fruit in the attack and course, grippy tannin, hearty and gripping." Falstaff
"Very pretty cherry and berry character with hints of citrus and cedar. It’s medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Lovely length." James Suckling
"The 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Grandi Annate is fabulous. Powerful and structured, with tons of intensity, the 2016 delivers the goods. I imagine it will be even better in a few years’ time. Bright Sangiovese red fruit, vibrant acids and lifted floral, cedar and tobacco accents all come alive in the glass. I would prefer to cellar the 2016 for at least a few years to allow the tannins to soften. If opened before that, it needs a number of hours to fully open. Impressive." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Dark ruby colour with a light rim. Dark red fruit, cedar wood and crushed rock with a fine grilled flavour on the nose. A well-balanced wine to which the cooler sites and the light sea breeze give both profile and contour. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant medium ruby red colour. Balsamic nose that is still a little closed. Supple, sweet and concentrated fruit, through which the tangy acidity shines through on the finish. Quite unruly tannins - it clearly needs more bottle ageing, for which it has plenty of substance." Jancis Robinson
"Le Potazzine's breezy, high-altitude location and the stony, well-drained soil helped to compensate for the rainfall and the threat of mildew in 2018. Nevertheless, the winery produced around 15 % less Brunello due to strict selection. It is a little shy and needs some persuasion to release forest herbs, leather and wild strawberries. Medium-bodied and delicate but not fragile, it moves gracefully and delivers a core of sweet fruit while supple, chalky tannins linger around the edges. It's almost ripe now, though it has enough depth to drink satisfactorily over the medium term." Decanter
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino has blossomed over the last year, blending earthy notes of worn leather and dusty rose that give way to woodland berries, cinnamon and tobacco. This is cool-toned and remarkably fresh with crisp wild berry fruits complicated by orange hints as inner violet florals cascade. It finishes long and lightly structured, leaving the mouth watering for more as a slightly salty tinge lingers. The 2018 from Le Potazzine is easily one of the top wines of this challenging vintage. That said, it is also more immediate." Vinous
"Le Potazzine delivers solid results thanks to the impressive location of its vines, which stretch across the crown of a plateau. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino shows bright fruit with cherry and redcurrant, and this makes all the difference. Careful ageing in oak has intensified the flavours. I can also feel the effects of the careful ageing in the cellar in the mouthfeel, especially in the structure and tannins." Wine Advocate
"A sweet and savoury bouquet with lighter notes of cherry, vanilla and cedar that rivals balsamic vinegar, olives and stones. The palate receives a sour wave of dried cranberry, pomegranate and citrus before an astringent finish. This wine will make the whole table sit up straight and pay attention." Wine Enthusiast
"South-west area, from an altitude that was once considered forbidden for high-quality Brunello. Gigliola and her girls take up the challenge of sustainability both in the vineyard and in the cellar. A wine of masterful balance, with cornelian cherry on the nose, then pepper leaf, a hint of gardenia and eucalyptus. The mouthfeel is juicy and fruity, with excellent persistence." Luca Gardini

“Il Puro” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016 (BIO) · 0,75l in OWC
Volpaia's flagship Il Puro shows beautiful fruit, elegance and a certain austerity that are indicative of this balanced vintage. The texture of the wine is dense and voluptuous and there is dark, plummy fruit, leather and cloves that meld into a wonderful drinking flow. Oak spice, tar and campfire ash on the long and rich finish. Only 2,000 bottles exist of this profound archetype of a Sangiovese that could hardly be better. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, intense ruby. Compact nose with notes of ripe dark cherries and wild raspberries, discreet resinous notes in the background. Polished and fine on the palate, shows lots of juicy fruit, opens with fine-meshed tannin in many layers, very long finish." Falstaff
"Mid garnet. Densely savoury, 'agricultural' Sangiovese notes on the nose and just the right amount of fruit concentration (not skinny but not forced). Excellent acidity and very true to the variety. Bone-dry finish. Quintessential food wine. Not flashy. Well named." Jancis Robinson
"Puro refers not just to the fact that this is made from 100% Sangiovese, but also that the vines represent 25 clones native to the area of Volpaia. They are grown in a small plot of the estate's south facing Casanova vineyard. Aged in 100% new French barriques, this leads with freshly ground coffee and sandalwood then reveals licorice, lavender and red cherry. The palate is sophisticated and smooth with fine svelte tannins and a racy core." Decanter
"The Volpaia 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Casanova Il Puro is profound, mature and ready to drink. It is made with organic fruit and packaged with lengths of twine that are affixed to the front of the bottle with an elegant red wax seal. From a classic vintage, this wine opens to evolved and spicy aromas of dried fruit, prune, leather and dark licorice root. The presentation is more oxidative that I would expect for a 2016, but yet the wine is open and ready to drink. I see little need to hold out for longer aging." Wine Advocate
"A rich, layered red that shows the strength of the vintage, offering blackberry, black-olive and stone aromas and flavors. It's full-bodied, chewy and pretty." James Suckling
"The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Casanova Il Puro is a wine for the cellar. Bright acids and beams of tannin shape this powerful, classically austere Gran Selezione from Volpaia. Lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and cloves start to emerge with some coaxing, but the 2016 is very clearly not ready to show all its cards just yet. Even so, this is a fine edition of the Puro." Vinous
"Dense and firmly structured, this red is saturated with black cherry, black currant, mineral, spice, tar and tobacco flavors. Though balanced, with refined tannins and lively acidity, the fruit is muted now and seems to be shutting down. Fine length shows the potential, but be patient." Wine Spectator

"At first smells closed, then all the more seductive of dark forest fruits and undergrowth, also spicy notes; concentrated in the mouth, powerful tannin, lots of juice and character. Should still mature." Vinum
"Rich, sparkling ruby-violet. Smells of ripe blackberries and dark currants, followed by red beet and tobacco, some pepper. On the palate gripping, dense tannin, lots of spicy components, lively and hearty, dark chocolate in the finish, still needs long maturity." Falstaff
"Fresh and focused, this red features a line of pure cherry flavors, along with black currant, tobacco, iron and olive notes, all supported by a deft use of oak, firm yet pliable tannins and a long, detailed finish. Shows fine overall harmony and potential." Wine Spectator
"This vineyard site sits at 550 meters in altitude, with clay soils spread over 1.5 hectares. The Tenuta di Trinoro 2019 Campo di Camagi is another site-specific expression of Cabernet Franc from a vintner who has produced some of the greatest expressions of this Bordelais grape made in Italy. What distinguishes this bottle next to, say, the Campo di Magnacosta (with looser alluvial limestone and sandstone soils) is the wine's overall sense of concentration and fruit weight. It is full and generous, leaving a big impact on all the senses. This wine packs a powerful punch with black fruit, spice, tobacco and scorched earth." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Campo di Camagi is another highlight in this range from Trinoro. Bright and effusive in its aromatics, the 2019 is all class. Sweet red cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco, anise, blood orange and cinnamon lend brightness. I especially admire the delineation here." Vinous

Here comes the new single-vineyard wine, similar in style to Santo Spirito but with an "autumnal" component. Light ruby red, gravel, vanilla and a subtle hint of mint on the nose, plus some cranberry and cherry. Then fresh and exciting on the palate with a sweet and sour component and a delicate bitter vein. Compact tannin that certainly deserves a few more years of bottle ageing. The final is herbaceous, spicy and long. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fresh, featuring rich hints of fig cake, fragrant smoke and iron that underscore the sun-dried cherry, thyme and rosehip notes. Light- to medium-bodied, with lightly chalky tannins." Wine Spectator
"Mediterranean brush, menthol and ripe dark fruit aromas waft out of the glass. Lithe and linear, the taut palate offers tart cherry, blood orange and licorice alongside fine-grained tannins. It closes on a hint of flint." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2019 Etna Rosso Moganazzi is spicy and intense, blasting up from the glass with crushed ashen stone, red currants, wild strawberries, sage and hints of cedar. It’s rich and pliant upon entry, yet quickly firms up through a mix of mineral-tinged berries, brisk acids and grippy tannins that arrive quite early and hold firm. That said, there is plenty of primary fruit and depth to balance, as it tapers off structured and long, leaving hints of licorice and inner rose to linger. This is only the third vintage of Moganazzi, which comes from steeply terraced 80-year-old vines at 650 meters on the north side of Etna." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017
As every year, Vincenzo Abbruzzese's Brunello is a wine that reflects the vintage in its harmony and roundness in a very convincing way. Rich bouquet of small dark red and black fruits, plum, crushed rose petals and hints of cinnamon. The palate is then taut and savoury, with great structure and a soft texture, the tannins nestling into the fruit and leading into a wonderfully polished, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a perfect example of how unique this vintage really is. This is remarkably pretty and inviting with a brilliant display of sugar-dusted cherries, dried strawberries and crushed lavender candies. Its medium-bodied framework carries silky textures across the palate in an expression that is both delicate yet potent, savory yet sweet, and with outstanding purity of fruit. Rounded tannins linger, creating a lightly structured feel, as rosy inner florals combine with sour citrus and notes of licorice that linger incredibly long. This is unlike any vintage of Valdicava that I’ve ever tasted, and yet I can’t help but come back to the glass over and over again. Only 800 cases of the 2017 Brunello were produced, which is mostly fruit from Madonna del Piano and Montosoli. Don’t miss it." Vinous
"The Valdicava 2017 Brunello di Montalcino shows a soft level of vintage ripeness that translates into dried strawberry or cooked cherry. These nuances are delicate and fine, however, and they are mitigated by the wine's acidity and the general clarity of the bouquet. Compared to past vintages, this 2017 is more accessible, but Valdicava has never been short on elegance or pedigree. Even that accessibility I mention is relative, because these wines have an excellent track record for longevity despite vintage variation." Wine Advocate
"Intense aromas of flowers and dark cherries. Perfumed and bright for the vintage. Full-bodied and firm with chewy yet polished tannins and a succulent and fruity finish that is in line and framed. Try after 2023." James Suckling

“Contrada Sciaranuova Vecchie Vigne” Rosso Etna DOC 2016
Tasca got involved in Etna early on and the latest result of these years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante estate: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are delicate and profound, and despite their power, acidity and taut tannin, very elegant, finesse-rich and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine - due to the altitude, soil composition and morphology of the historic lava flows. A high annual rainfall ensures that the soil has all the water it needs, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the aromatic diversity of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Sciaranuova parcel is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of about 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. Within the Sciaranuova parcel is a small cru site whose vines were planted in 1961. The bottles, produced in very small quantities, are labelled "Vigna Vecchia". Compared to its "younger brother", this rare wine shows increased complexity, depth and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby and already a touch developed. Elegant, beautiful even! Pure, sweet raspberry and cherry notes mingling with earth and minerals. Gorgeous fragrant raspberry and firm tannins that push the fruit on the finish. Still austere and in need of more bottle age." Jancis Robinson
"Moderately saturated ruby-red. Very pure aromas and flavors of blood orange, potpourri, red cherry nectar, minerals and sweet spices. Very light on its feet and extremely suave, with outstanding acid-sugar-tannin balance, this is actually less weighty on the palate than the regular Sciaranuova bottling. The finish is very long and pure." Vinous
"This wine is made from Tascante's oldest vines, planted in 1961. The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova V.V. (the initials stand for Vigna Vecchia or "old vines") is a beautifully polished and glossy expression with a fine and smooth aromatic presentation. It starts off with primary notes of forest berry and cassis and spans all the way over to campfire ash and camphor. That range is as beautiful as it is impressive. The mouthfeel is silky and soft with fine, powdery tannins. Put this delicate wine aside for a few more years. Some 5,000 bottles were produced." Wine Advocate

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Feudo di Mezzo Il Quadro Delle Rose” Rosso Etna DOC 2019 · MAGNUM
Feudo di Mezzo Il Quadro Delle Rose smells of roses and small red berries. It is a heavy, tannic wine that requires a little patience but finds its balance with time. A wine of exceptional finesse with great intellect. SUPERIORE.DE
"This charming red is well-balanced and fresh, firmed by fine-grained tannins and displaying a deftly woven range of wild strawberry and black raspberry, Earl Grey tea, rosehip, minerally stone and spice. Chewy finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo impresses with a dark and rich bouquet that pulls you close with notes of sugar-dusted plums, cloves, spiced citrus peels and hints of pine. It fleshes out across the palate with a salty mix of red berries and wild herbs, more lifted than anticipated yet potent. Grippy tannins mount toward the close. For all of its underlying power, the 2019 tapers off amazingly fresh, yet also structured, with a mix of inner violet and rose. Feudo di Mezzo combines both vivid fruit and the vertical build for a long and steady maturation." Vinous
"Dark spice, new leather, wild berry and eucalyptus are some of the aromas you'll find on this lovely red. Sleek and sultry, the elegant palate offers Marasca cherry, raspberry, cedar and star anise alongside lithe, fine-grained tannins. Enjoy through 2029." Wine Enthusiast
"A powerful Etna red with plenty of black-cherry and licorice character, plus a robust tannin structure. However, it also has a very exciting, cool and bright side, which comes out ever more clearly at the long, racy finish." James Suckling

“Nardo” Rosso Costa Toscana IGT 2021
The uncompromisingly selected grapes come from the oldest vineyards of the winery. Dark and powerful, yet highly elegant aromas of wild cherries, spices, liquorice, cassis and leather with exceptional balance and purity. A radiant, cosmopolitan Italian. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. Fruity nose, red berry, freshly baked bread, some graphite, sealing wax, still very youthful. On the palate with a hearty attack and course, nobly embedded in the wood, punchy, clear, expressive, will age well, put away." Falstaff
"Delicate and perfumed with cherries and forest fruits as well as strawberries. A touch of coffee. Medium-bodied with crunchy fruit and fine tannins that give a silky texture and lovely length. Fruit with earth and spice. Some raw meat. Enticing now but will be even better in two or three years. Some whole berry and whole cluster fermentation with the sangiovese. Precise." James Suckling
"The 2021 Nardo is elegant, finessed and classy to the core. White pepper, chalk, mint, blood orange, dried flowers and cedar give the 2021 striking aromatic presence and energy. I don’t remember a Nardo with much translucent energy. Readers will want to cellar this for at least a few years." Vinous

Barolo “Albe” DOCG 2017 · MAGNUM
Barolo Albe comes from the three parcels Fossati, Castello della Volta and Costa di Vergne. Brilliant and finely shaped on the palate, expressive floral notes merge with bright red fruits, mint and ground berries to create a lively and distinctive Barolo endowed with pure energy and class. It is juicy and fruity and a clear buy not only because of its comparatively moderate price! SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderfully clear and precise, delighting with abundant charming fruit, balanced and with velvety tannin, plus delicate spice and a salty earthy note on the finish, animating at every stage and also a little demanding." Weinwisser
"Translucent ruby. Edgy, tarry nose that's very ethereal. Tannic grip and quite a bit of heat on the way there. Floats on the palate – it's certainly not heavy, and has quite enough freshness. Long and relatively open." Jancis Robinson
"Sweet, charming, and attractive with fresh and youthful aromas. Great mid-palate concentration. Multi-layered and meaty with a velvety texture." Decanter
"The 2017 Barolo Albe is exquisite. Bright and beautifully lifted, the 2017 Albe is a wine of pure and total pleasure. All the elements come together so gracefully. Crushed flowers, red berries, mint, cinnamon and lavender are some of the many notes that open in the glass. The 2017 is so nicely done in the way it captures the radiance of the year and the classicism that runs through all these wines. Vineyard sites are Fossati, Costa di Vergne and Le Volte." Vinous
"Fresh and floral aromas with plum, orange peel and some cedar follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Very drinkable now, but will improve with age." James Suckling
"Red berry, rose and camphor aromas waft out of the glass. Tangy and delicious, the smooth, full-bodied palate doles out ripe Marasca cherry, fleshy raspberry and hints of ground baking spice framed in taut, polished tannins. It's already accessible but also has good midterm aging potential." Wine Enthusiast
"This is one of the most accessible and trustworthy wines you can buy from Piedmont. Keeping in line with past vintages, the G.D. Vajra 2017 Barolo Albe opens to medium concentration and a very expressive or fruit-forward bouquet. This hot-climate 2017 edition shows a little more ripeness and roundness as is to be expected, but these results are a safe bet nonetheless. Cherry and raspberry aromas are followed by blue flower and pressed violets. Set this bottle aside for medium or long-term drinking." Wine Advocate

“Batàr” Bianco Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
Batàr is undoubtedly reminiscent of Burgundy, but with unmistakable Tuscan authenticity. Vintage after vintage, Querciabella's forward-thinking winemaking has evolved beyond the hedonistic idea of growing foreign, albeit noble, white grapes in a stronghold of red wines to focus on expressing a particular sense of place. The Batàr's inherent vitality and classic minerality clearly come from the high-altitude vineyards of Ruffoli and the Galestro soils typical of the best sites in Chianti Classico.
Batàr's legendary ability to defy age and improve over time requires a careful combination of hand-picked Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes, punctual micro-vinification and patient ageing in barrels. The long period on the lees in high-quality French barriques allows the individual batches to develop their best expression. Only when optimal maturation has been completed is the final blend put together through extensive sampling. Further maturation in the bottle before release seals the multi-layered texture that characterises the proverbial mouthfeel of Batàr.
Exudes elegant aromas of jasmine, peach and sweet tropical fruit and a lively minerality. Batàr secures its many admirers with great finesse and opulent diversity and has undoubtedly been one of the best white wines in Italy for decades! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Batàr is bright and beautifully focused. Lemon confit, white flowers, chamomile and jasmine are all nicely delineated. Crisp and vibrant, the 2021 shows all the energy that is the norm for this wine of late. The 2021 was just bottled about a month prior to this tasting, and yet is shows quite well." Vinous
"Fresh and creamy nose with lemon curd, star fruit, green pineapple, fine lees and wet stones. Clarity and mineral tension define the medium- to full-bodied palate, rendering a gastronomic quality with its long, nicely saline finish." James Suckling

Barolo DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM
"Our Barolo (Classico) has been a successful synthesis of the various characteristics of the Massolino vineyards for over 70 years. Thanks to traditional ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels, we maintain its pure and unadulterated identity and its complex flavours." Franco Massolino
Traditionally vinified Barolo from the estate's best vineyards. Deep garnet red colour. Complex, spicy bouquet of liquorice, tobacco, dried flowers, violets and damp leaves. Very emphatic, firm and full-bodied on the palate. Its racy and forward style is still flanked by noticeable, rough tannins. Finishes with a fine sweetness, elegant and long. The already undisputed high level will continue to develop in full beauty over the next few years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Light ruby red in colour. A subtle, lifted aroma of cherries and cranberries dabbed with spicy oak notes and a hint of orange peel. Juicy, lively cherry fruit on the palate with a long, grippy tannin finish. Fresh, long and elegant." Jancis Robinson
"The 2019 Barolo is a very serious wine. harvestlooking for an uncomplicated, entry-level Barolo will not find it here. Bright and crackling with tannin, the 2019 will need at least a couple of years to fully develop. Crushed rocks, red/purple fruits and dried flowers emerge with some coaxing, but this is truly a wine for the cellar." Vinous
"This red straddles the line between power and elegance, featuring delicate flavors of strawberry, cherry and rose hip, plus notes of earth, tar and iron. Finishes with more power and the grip of refined tannins, offering terrific balance and length." Wine Spectator
"Lots of lavender, raspberry and orange blossom flavours follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a polished finish. Beautiful drive and balance. Clear and fine." James Suckling
"On the pale, cream-coloured label, Barolo 2019 is elegant and understated, with a very concentrated and linear style that makes a big impression and awakens the senses. There is wild cherry, blue flower and crushed stones supported by balanced freshness and tannins." Wine Advocate

Barbaresco “Currá" DOCG 2013
Garnet red with delicate violet reflections. Currá 2013 is initially archaic and unapproachable. With time and oxygen it reveals dark berries and a fine chocolate note. In his style he is rather angular, but does not deny his greatness and harmony at any point. Tobacco, plums, smoke and tobacco: with every glass this exceptional wine reveals new facets and a firework of impressions. So Nebbiolo goes from 65 years old vines at the highest level! SUPERIORE.DE
"A fresh, cherry-, mineral- and tar-flavored red whose great structure provides support. Elements of underbrush and earth come into play on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"The 2013 Barbaresco Currá offers a savory side that is seamlessly juxtaposed against a plump fruity side. Those two halves paint a pretty picture of this unusual and slightly cooler vintage. The wine shows power and a great sense of forward thrust or momentum that will serve it well as it ages in your cellar. The 1.5-hectare vineyard is planted to 65-year-old vines in the Neive subzone." Wine Advocate
"A rich, explosive wine, the 2013 Barbaresco Currà possesses remarkable depth, intensity and power. Dark cherry, smoke, leather, spice and savory herb nuances saturate the palate in an explosive, full-throttle Barbaresco. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2013 is going to need at least several years in bottle to fully come around. A final blast of exotic, perfumed aromatics makes it very hard to move onto the next wine." Antonio Galloni

“Camartina” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
Rich aromas of black and red berries such as black cherry and blueberry, joined by notes of ripe plum and tamarind. With further aeration then multi-layered notes of ivy, forest floor and freshly cut bark with hints of leather, sweet tobacco and liquorice. The full and silky body is framed by firm but well-integrated tannins supported by excellent acidity. Then, just before the long finish, ripe black fruits enriched by nutmeg and sweet spices. Great its Tuscan identity full of energy and liveliness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Ruby red. In the nose notes of small ripe red fruits, cassis, elderberries, violets with a hint of mint and liquorice. On the palate rich, juicy, fruity and with a hint of sweet spice. Persistent finish with well integrated tannins." Falstaff
"This supple red wine features aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, plums, Mediterranean herbs and leather. It shows fine intensity and a lively structure that makes it clear and long on the earthy finish." Wine Spectator
"Currant and floral aromas with some cement and violets. Medium bodied, firm tannins and tangy acidity with lots of citrus peel. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two when it has mellowed." James Suckling
"The organic Camartina 2018 is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese. A consistent performer year after year, this Tuscan blend shows an exotic quality, with barbecue spice or steak sauce framing a core of smooth dark fruit. But the flavours don't stop there. They unfold in the form of balsamic herbs, blue flowers and grilled rosemary." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Camartina is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Dark, brooding and quite closed, the 2018 is going to require cellaring and a good bit of patience, too. Dark-fleshed fruit, leather, spice, menthol and grilled herbs emerge with some coaxing. The Cabernet is quite evident in both the flavor profile and overall structure, which likely explains the wine's general feel today." Vinous

Barbaresco “Nubiola” DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM in gift box
Sparkling ruby colour. Expressive, very fragrant bouquet of red stone fruit, wild berries, mint and leather. Juicy, clear attack with well-proportioned tannins. Wonderfully long finish with ripe berries and spices. SUPERIORE.DE
"A taut, lightly sinewy red informed by a mix of cherry, plum, eucalyptus and tobacco flavors. For now, the balance tips toward the grainy tannins, yet this offers a lasting impression of fruit and savoriness." Wine Spectator
"The Barbaresco Nubiola 2019 is quite a high-flyer in this year's Pelissero range. Aromatically intense and also quite deep, the Nubiola impresses with its balance. The blending of different sites was clearly an advantage. Bright red fruit, cedar wood, tobacco, orange peel and pomegranate give it a remarkable complexity. Give the tannins a few more years to soften." Vinous

Barolo Ravera “Bricco Pernice” DOCG 2017
Dark cherries, menthol, flowers and tar are just some of the classic notes in the complex bouquet of the Bricco Pernice from the Ravera single vineyard. On the palate, the austere structure and great power are joined by a fine inner sweetness. In the long finish, memories of damp earth, dried herbs and wild flowers. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. A little rich on the nose but not lacking in precision and showing great depth. Still not completely open. Brooding but with aeration becomes more floral and perfumed. Mouth-filling juicy fruit with polished, fine, almost velvety tannins. Closes up on the finish but showing impeccable balance. Outstanding for the vintage." Jancis Robinson
"Deep-set nose of bright, spicy cherry with layers of minerals, from chalk to river stones. Medium-to full-bodied with really nicely placed, still firm tannins and excellent spicy and mineral drive on the finish. There’s a cool feel to the palate. This is in the full bloom of youth and, though attractive now, will age nicely. Try from 2024." James Suckling
"This is a medium-bodied Nebbiolo from a hot vintage with a ruby-tinged appearance. The 2017 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice shows generous inner fiber and richness with dried cherry, blackberry, plum and dark spice. Fruit for this wine comes from a beautiful amphitheater of vines with the perched town of Novello high up on the skyline. I love the especially smooth and soft quality to what is a powerful and lasting wine. Only 3,500 bottles were made." Wine Advocate
"A pretty red, boasting rose, strawberry and raspberry flavors accented by mown hay, leather, iron and tobacco. In terms of texture and structure, this is like an iron fist in a velvet glove. Fine length." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Barolo Bricco Pernice is superb. Silky and soft, with gorgeous textural finesse, the 2017 is all class right out of the gate. Hints of rose petal, orange zest, cinnamon and star anise meld into sweet red cherry and raspberry fruit. The 2017 can be enjoyed now or cellared. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous wine in every way." Vinous
"Defying the heat of the scorching vintage, this fragrant red has aromas of iris, violet, wild berry, leather and eucalyptus. On the full-bodied, delicious palate, fresh acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins support dried cherry, nutmeg and licorice before a tobacco finish." Wine Enthusiast

Rosso di Montalcino “Greppo” DOC 2020
The Rosso di Montalcino comes from slightly younger Brunello vines and is matured for 12 months in large oak barrels. It undoubtedly bears the signature of the top winery Biondi Santi: delicately sweet, open flavours of red berries, flowers and cloves. Like all of the winery's other wines, the Rosso is classic and firm in style, with a bombastic structure and a brilliant, long finish. True to the house, it also has a long ageing and maturation potential and can compete with some of the Brunello wines of the appellation today and in the future. SUPERIORE.DE
"Pale ruby red colour. Slightly restrained nose. Structured, sweet fruit on the palate, with real drive and grip on the finish. Admirably long. Really very exciting! Pure, fully ripe Sangiovese. Powerful and a great balance between fruit and the natural tannin and acidity of the grape. Simply marvellous! Already a great drink, but with enough ripe tannin to go on and on." Jancis Robinson
"Generous aromas of ripe strawberries and cherries that develop into flowers and stones with some crushed cement. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that fill the mouth, as well as lively acidity and depth of fruit. Spicy and almost salty on the finish." James Suckling
"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is simply stunning. It emerges from the glass with vibrant raspberry and cherry notes complemented by sweet roses, cloves and cedar. This model of purity is silky and refined, with a dusty feel to its ripe red berry fruit. Orange notes provide contrast on the finish. It ends structured and long, still remarkably pure, with a slightly bitter hint that slowly fades. This fabulous Rosso from Biondi-Santi shows the work that has been done in recent years." Vinous
"The nose is floral and sweet, but refreshing thanks to the clean, balancing flavours of mint and dirt. On the palate, this freshness goes a step further, to a light, bouncy, almost astringent level. The precocious tannins are young but dense and supportive, while the jubilant acidity sings." Wine Enthusiast

“Crosara” Merlot Veneto IGT 2017
Crosara Breganze 2017 is a textbook Merlot: full of ripe dark fruits, blackberry pie, liquorice, chocolate, toasted oak and grilled herbs. Offering superb inner sweetness, it is both powerful and elegant, with a lush, super-soft mouthfeel. Pleasingly, a wonderfully focused mineral component saves the wine from ever being overdone. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep nose with tapenade and olives on top of the minty blackberries, tar and black spices. Very compact and dense on the palate, with very firm tannins and fresh, medium acidity. A little tight and chewy, with a hint of bitter chocolate in the finish. Give it some time. Try in 2024." James Suckling
"The 2017 Crosara is deep and sweetly scented with violet and lavender perfumes giving way to black currants. This is textural and velvety in feel, with ripe red and black berries complemented by sweet spice and vibrant acidity. It tapers off long and floral with grippy tannins framing the expression nicely, and a twang of sour citrus perfectly completes the expression. The Crosara is a varietal Merlot from partially dried grapes." Vinous
